“Comfortable Accomodations”

My husband and I booked a room here through Off & Away's website for our anniversary. We stayed January 6-8 and really liked this hotel. We had a lakeview corner room on the 19th floor and the view was amazing. This was our first time to Chicago and we loved it. The hotel is nice, a little dated in decor, but clean so I can't complain. The service was wonderful and so polite. They really made us feel welcome and gave excellent advice whenever we asked for it. We loved the location of this hotel, right in the middle of the Gold Coast area. There was plenty to do around us and the subway stations and bus stops were short walks away. For breakfast we liked to go to the Original Pancake House or Luxebar, both right across the street. The hotel is also a couple blocks away from all the shopping on Michigan Avenue. Would definately come back.

“Good but something missing”

We (my daughter and I) arrived on Friday evening, she from Vancouver and me from London UK. It was the Friday of the snow storm so our journey had been slow. I had booked through Air Canada for a Deluxe Lakeview - two double beds but was shown to a standard room with one bed - that really disappoints me - the booking is clear - why do they not get it right first time? we got the right room eventually.
We popped across the snowy road to Gibsons for a bite to eat and as many reviewers say, this is a great place for great steaks and there are many other eating establishments nearby.

Next morning we could see our room properly and with the floor to ceiling windows on two sides (corner room) on the 18th floor the views were great - we do like views from our bedrooms wherever we are. Room was generally good - a little dated in places, the bathroom a good size and a nice separate glass shower cubicle with a good showerhead. Beds comfortable and a decent work desk - the TV was an old bulky CRT type and really ought to be replaced with a modern flat screen and similarly the dated CD player with an ipod connection. I do feel that internat connection shud be free - why can I go to Starbucks and spend a few dollars on a coffee and get free internet but spend hundreds on a room over four nights and have to pay for WiFi?

The Whiskey Bar and Grill is OK but I would have thought an additional more sophisticated eatery appropriate for this establishment - perhaps the problem is all the alternatives nearby. At least the internet connection was free in the bar.

Really not sure if I would stay here again - it was reasonable value but I had expected more - personally I do not think it compares with the Vancouver property.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding your recent visit to the hotel. We do sincerely appreciate having you as our guest.

No reason you shouldn't have been given the correct room the first time. I am disappointed with that as you are and apologize.

Glad to hear that you found the location of the hotel and the accomodations to your liking. Our rooms have great views and are spacious in size....and we have exciting news about the hotel forthcoming.

“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We booked this after staying at The Sutton Place in Vancouver - yet they are different management companies. We had an equally pleasant experience. You cannot beat this location - across the street from Gibson's Steak House and near several other famous restaurants. about a 10 minute walk from the miracle mile and close to so many things. The front desk was great and the bar downstairs is a fun spot.
We loved our large corner room. If there was anything negative I would say the rooms are just a little dated but very clean and comfortable. This was a great value and we would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Corner room was great - lots of space.

“Great place for the business traveler!”

This place is an a better than average hotel in an AWESOME location. The hotel staff is great. The accommodations are 4 star and I slept very well. Better than I normally do on the road. The neighborhood is great. Your just across the street from some great local restaurants and the shopping district is second to none (and I walk Rodeo Drive weekly). This is a wonderful and safe location.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter. There is a lot of noise that can be heard on lower floors.

“Great start to the New Year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Arrived at the hotel prior to check-in time and was pleasantly greeted by the desk clerk (Jammar). I requested a room on a higher floor and was immediately accomodated. The room was large, well appointed and very quiet. The bathroom is large with a separate shower and ample hot water. The bed was extremely comfortable with nice linens. The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to be close to good restaurants and pubs. Across the street is the original pancake house which serves a great breakfast. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Higher floors are very quiet.
