“Loved the Window Seat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I got a great rate for a Saturday night ($165) through Kimpton. Location is great, just off Michigan Avenue. Hotel parking is expensive ($48), but convenient. I noticed several public ramps nearby for the more cost-conscience person. The complimentary wine hour is of course a Kimpton standard. Comfy bed and the window seat in our room was awesome! Great value.

Room Tip: Near the L. For those who may not be use to city noises the L is an additional noise, but for us it...

Thank you for the review. Glad that you got to enjoy a nice weekend with us and the amazing window seats! Parking downtown Chicago is a little pricey, but tax is included in the price and you also get unlimited in/out with valet parking. If you choose to not have a car, there are so many public transportation options, and it's sometimes even faster than driving. There are also several nearby self parking garages, but you have to pay every time you exit, just speak with our concierges for options.

cheers,

“Hits nearly all the right buttons...”

This was our first time in Chicago, and we very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Monaco. The rooms are very clean and comfortable (alas, we didn't get a goldfish, nor a morning newspaper), and the staff were helpful. During our four-night stay the bathroom toilet flooded (leaky seal, nothing to do with us!), and Glenn the engineer was brilliant. He appeared within about a minute of us reporting the flood, replaced the faulty part, organised housekeeping to mop up the water etc. He is a credit to the hotel...
The location is good; plenty of places to dine within a short stroll. We had no noise problems, and we found the staff pleasant. The free wine happy hour was a good idea, and we also enjoyed the free morning coffee, although it would have suited us better if it had not ended at 9am every day we were there! My only quibble would be that I would have liked a coffee maker in the room as room service prices were high. But I would recommend this hotel (the age range of guests was very wide, so it's obviously doing something right), and I would return there if I returned to Chicago.

Iris, Thank you for leaving us the review. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your first trip to Chicago! Next time you stay with us, just request a coffee maker for your room. In-room coffee makers, goldfish, newspaper and many other amenities are all available upon request. “One of my favorites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I hesitate to write this review as I prefer to keep some of my favorites to myself. However this is my senior contributor contribution... so here goes. I am in Chicago a lot, 12-14 times a year. The Monaco is a few short blocks to the loop and Miracle Mile/Michigan Ave so the location is superb.
This is a boutique hotel and the front desk staff has always been friendly to me, no attitude here at all. Rooms are big by Chicago standards and the rooms are clean. Note the carpets in the room are clean. Housekeeping is "on the ball here" The decor is bizarre. Lots of conflicting colors in the room. Just don't wake up with a hangover and you'll be fine. Speaking of hangovers, you are next door (it connects) to the Southwater Kitchen. Do yourself a favor and get a seat at the bar and order the Cuban sandwich. It is made in front of you in their gas fired over behind the bar and it is made with pork belly. Wow, what great smells and you'll not go wrong with any other food items here, great restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Overall this is a great hotel for couples and for business travel. No complaints and I will be back

Room Tip: I don't think they have a bad room at this hotel

Happy to hear that you enjoyed the Cuban Sandwich, we also do some nice flatbreads in the gas fired oven.

“Excellent stay but no goldfish for me!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This was my first time staying at the Hotel Monaco and I absolutely loved it! Knowledgable and friendly staff, great dining tips (The Gage and Wildberry), the rooms are hip and cool gone wild, and the happy hour (wine and Wii) just right. Location is awesome. I loved my room, especially the picture window/reading nook. And the room was VERY clean. The beds and linens are sooooooo comfortable. And free wireless immediately upon registration in their loyalty club. The only complaint I had was no one asked me if I wanted a goldfish - now I feel so deprived! I'll know next time to ask for one; who doesn't need a little company?

Thank you for leaving a review! I'm sorry that nobody informed you of our Guppy Love program (goldfish companion), just let us know at check-in and we'll bring him up to your room. We'll even let you name him or her. We just added some new games to our lobby Wii, so next time you visit be sure to check it out.
