free parking, walking distance to McCormick place (tho we DID drive and pay the parking since parking is free at the hotel) CLEAN rooms, great food in the restraunt, Cant wait til April!

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend because my husband and I had parties to attend Friday and Saturday night. We usually stay on Michigan Ave but wanted something closer south and with parking. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we booked here for the 20% off fall promotion on 2 nights stay. This hotel is right on 26th and State which, growing up in Chicago was a cause of concern but that quickly disappeared once we arrived. The lobby is nicely decorated and there are shops inside. Our room was very large. I wasn't a fan of the decor and the bed was a bit hard for my taste but that's just personal taste. If I had a gripe, it would be that the shops were never opened and there is a fridge but no microwave in the room (that made no sense to me). We will definately stay here again while visiting Chicago. Nice place.

This hotel makes a good and fair deal as long as you don't need to stay close to the heart of down town Chicago. It is located about 10 minutes walk from the McCormick center so it is a good option if you are about to attend a conference at this huge meeting center. Otherwise, look for a place which is located a liitle bit closer to the "city".

A family outing (celebrating the "century mark" of the family matriarch) led me to this venue. After much research and comparison prices of downtown/Loop hotels to accommodate 200+ persons, The South Loop Hotel was chosen. Located near Chicago's McCormick Place** (and nearby expressways), it was easy to find, get to, unbelievably priced ($99/night vs. $185/night); $40 pp for a tasty buffet-style dinner (3 entrees, salad, vegetables, unlimited beverages) vs. $75 pp for the same, and FREE parking (NOTE: Loop parking - usually valet - averages $35-$40/night). I thought the lower prices meant a lower quality, run down hotel in an unsafe neighborhood (?), but I was proven wrong. This 5-story hotel offers a surprisingly bright, well decorated lobby area with welcoming professional staff, rooms with small sitting area, refrigerator, and (requisite) flat screen tv; business center and deli/sundry on main floor. Meals were tasty. Rooms were clean. Not sure what else I would have asked for. No; it's not on Michigan Avenue, but that's okay, too! I would definitely consider returning in the future.

CAVEAT: Saturday night crowds for the hotel 'dance club' can be somewhat noisy, but Chicago's finest are on site to 'keep the peace'.

**I would assume that this hotel attracts alot of convention goers.
