My favorite part of the Springhill Suites River North was their location. Walking distance to Millenium Park, State Street, Mag Mile, and the great restaurants on Ohio Street which we could see out our window. It truly was a great home base to do so many things in Chicago.
On top of that, the value was incredible and the room felt like a mini studio apartment that took advantage of the space so well that I felt like we were in a James Bond lair on a Blimp. The mini living room & desk were separated from the bedroom area by frosted glass panels that could slide open or closed. The TV swiveled so you could watch it from the couch or bed. The shower was the best (but no tub - so ask for that if you want one). There was even a wet bar, fridge, microwave, coffee maker etc. for the price of a value hotel. Not to mention real mugs/glasses in the room instead of plastic cups.
Thank you, too, Marriott for limiting the styrofoam at breakfast by having paper plates and paper containers for the awesome oatmeal bar. Please consider paper or other eco-friendly options for the cereal, coffee & tea. (We brought down the mugs from our room.)
The lobby and breakfast area were spacious and comfortable. There was a fire place, a Wii station, and computers for internet/boarding passes.
Front desk and housekeeping staff we ran into were very friendly, but the two doormen were too busy chatting to open the door for us on an incredibly cold, windy, snowy day.
Tip: If you want a snack, the food in their "market" is pricey and there are no vending machines... consider the seven eleven a few doors down from the hotel to stock up.
