“Gem in Chicago”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This is a very trendy, fun place to stay. My girlfriend loved it and anytime someone is coming into town we recommend it. The food is excellent, although the only complaint was that the nueskis bacon wasn't the black pepper crusted type, which is the best bacon on the planet. Other than the small disappointment here we were both thrilled with the room, service, and food. slightly pricey, but you get a lot more than the average hotel. def a step up from the more popular W downtown. And close to a lot of great downtown and river-north spots.

“Chicago top 10!”

I spend about 6 weekends a year in Chicago (in the warmer months) just for pleasure. I have stayed at just about all the "hip" hotels in downtown. I was just planning my next trip this morning and was shocked to see the Dana ranked at #24. Dana is easily a top 10 Chicago hotel. Sure you have the big boys like Trump, Waldorf, etc... YAWN! Im in my 30's not my 80's. I am originally from Chicago and currently living in Florida. I travel quite frequently for fun and enjoy trying new hotels and restaurants. I was very impressed with the Dana hotel, from the doormen to the random cleaning staff in the hallway. You can't beat the views in Dana (try the corner rooms) AMAZING! Its in a great location to many fun chitown activities. In summer the rooftop bar is fantastic! Dana showers are written about all the time in magazine articles. I can't say enough about my endorsement of Dana. I was last in Chicago in October and happened to be close to Dana and thought about getting a drink at the rooftop bar. I stopped by the doorman and asked if it was open yet for the evening and unfortunately it was not, however the doorman and I chatted for a good 3-5 minuets about where I should head to instead. I wasn't even a guest that weekend! Just good people and Great vibe at Dana. So if you are thinking about a chitown trip try these guys out! Also... don't leave Chicago without trying Lou Malnatis chicago style pizza and Portillos for an italian beef and chicago dog. My favorite upscale restaurant is by far MK's on Franklin its out of this world. Anyways, I am now second guessing trip advisor all together. Can you buy your ranking with them? I thought this was a public forum of unbiased opinion based on actual experience? rning and decided to look up my favorite resource for public opinion on travel, "trip advisor". I was SHOCKED to see the Dana ranking at #24. The Dana is easily a top 10 hotel in Chicago. I mean y

“Noisy. Understandably so, but come on.”

The hotel door was not properly sealed or just too short as there was a 1/2 inch gap between floor and door. Thus all the hall traffic was very noticeable. The rooftop bar was very loud and open very late. Seemed like it was on the floor right above us. (fyi I am in my 20s so if it bothered me I can only imagine what other guests thought) The room was bare or contemporary however you look at it. Bed was comfortable. Great location. Keurig coffee maker. LOVED the shower setup. Floor to ceiling windows with nice views. Booking with the hotel allowed a $10 pp voucher for breakfast, making breakfast almost free each morning, a plus. Must take the elevator/stairs from ground level to lobby on 2nd floor. Then two elevators are available from 2nd level to your room. Inconvenient. (This set up is thanks to the rooftop bar that uses the 1st floor to load guests. Thus hotel guests are stuck waiting for a elevator as they are bypassed for the rooftop bar. Hotel guests have to use their room keys to stop on guest floors but still security is a concern with people other than hotel guests using the elevators.)
Spa was average. Maybe it's me but I can't enjoy a massage with the sound of horns honking like they are right in my room. Move the spa up from the 3rd level or the massage rooms away from exterior walls!

“Excellent Service Amazing Views”

We've stayed at the Dana hotel many times in the past 5 years. I am most impressed with the fact that we always see the same workers. To me that is a sign that the employees like where they work. Happy employees mean good service and that is exactly what you will get. Close to all downtown Chicago attractions, BEAUTIFUL CLEAN rooms, awesome views :) We consider it our home away from home and would not stay anywhere else when in Chicago.

Room Tip: King room on a upper floor facing South East is going to be your best view!

“3 days in Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We booked our hotel and flight stay at the Dana thru Bookit.com. The Hotel was excellent in every way. Upon arrival we were escorted into the front lobby and eagerly helped. Our room was not quite ready so we left our luggage and walked a block and a half to Pizzeria Duo.

Once we were able to get into our room we were very pleased. I upgraded to the Corner room and bow was it worth it. The floor to ceiling windows made for incredible morning and night time views. The stay at the Dana was way more than we were expecting. For a couples trip it is the perfect hotel close to everything and nice and quiet.

Room Tip: Get the corner room with floor to ceiling windows!!!
