The resort was great. Rooms were beautiful, comfortable in every way, and used local materials. A/C worked perfectly, bathrooms still warm. Fresh fruit, attentive service, good internet access. And the food and drinks were tops too. Very nice and attentive staff, lovely and tasteful dining room.
But the real gem is the island. Everyone was extremely nice - no tension whatsoever. They were just very happy we were visiting. And the resort arranged for a local guide to take us on some hikes. We visited two spectacular, secluded waterfalls in one day. Great swimming at both. Nobody else in sight. Plus a wonderful natural "Dashin Soup" lunch at a local Rastafarian's homestead. Our guide was charming. This was the real deal and a totally fun trip. The flora, geology and natural beauty are off the charts. Highly, highly recommend.
