“Stay Away!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2009

We stayed one night. Upon check in the clerk couldn't get a key to work so he kept throwing them behind him. Odd behavior. When we walked in the room I guess the only word to describe was nasty. The carpets were filthy. Hadn't been cleaned or vacuumed in years. Mold in the bathroom. When we went to take showers in the morning a supposedly "clean" towel had BLOOD on it. I had to go down and get more towels. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The bed was comfortable though. The best part was the Cracker Barrel restaurant next door. Much better than the "free" breakfast.

“Won't stay there again!”

This hotel is definitely “economy”! I am not used to staying at the Ritz or anything, but when I do book a hotel I expect certain comforts. The bathroom was horrible – I don’t think it had proper ventilation and there was mold on the walls. The breakfast offered in the morning was nothing but toast, cereal and some bagels, but if you were not up bright and early the breakfast would be gone, and they don’t restock – when it’s gone it’s gone. The TV remote in our room and one light did not work. The furnishings were worn and the room smelled musty. The linens were clean and the room seemed clean, but personally, I would NOT stay here again. If you are don’t expect much from a hotel then this is your place.

“Disgusting and dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2008

When we arrived at this hotel, the entire hallway smelled sour and nasty and when we entered our room, the smell was significantly worse and appeared to be coming from the sink drain. In addition the tub/shower could not be shut off and water was running constantly (not a drip but actually streaming away). The wallpaper border was peeling and the carpet was dirty. We also were unable to access the wireless internet connection because the hub was too distant from our room although theoretically access was available throughout the motel. I would not recommend this facility to anyone and I would urge Econo Lodge to pull their franchise from this location.

“Pathetic Motel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2007

I stayed at this motel for one night on January 5, 2006. The hotel is generally dirty, and the level of cleanliness of rooms is below the standards of a motel (don't even compare it with a hotel).

The night clerk was a lady, who said that they offered a Continental Breakfast. The morning breakfast was a joke. There was no milk, and despite requests, the front desk person did not re-stock it in 15 minutes, after which I just left. There was no juice in any of the four juice fountains - it was empty. The coffee machine (though provided by the Motel chain I assume) was also not working. It seems that the problem lies with the owner, who is so miserly in his/ her approach that it is ridiculous. There were four toasts, three pastries, two bagels... Not making it up. I counted. They hoard, and wait until most people leave without asking, so that they do not have to put it there. Very cheapstake.

The pennypincher attitude is visible everywhere - whatever is broken will not get fixed. some things are patched, but not replaced. It is located next to motel 6, which does not offer breakfast. However, considering the so-called breakfast this EconoLodge offers, and the poorer quality of room and service, there is no need to spend the additional 10 dollars to stay here. better stay at motel 6 instead, which is right next door. It will be cheaper and better.

“Do NOT stay here!!! Dirty and damaged!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2006

My husband and I came to the Econo Lodge in Caseyville, IL. We had reservations for three days in a 1 King room (Room 235). When we arrived the first thing I noticed was that the fridge was filthy, the seal around the door was caked in old food. There was no microwave provided which was very dissapointing. Also, the ceiling was stained and the rugs were dirty. There was a spot on the wall where apparently there had been something attached (like a counter or something) They had removed the item but they had not removed the screws or anchors and the screw were sticking out at very dangerous angles so that someone could snag their clothing or cut themselves. The rest of the room was painted a gold color but they had obviously painted around whatever was there because that area (a good 5 feet across) was still white. There was a cracked picture hanging on the wall with broken glass hanging on it and the other painting across from it was obivously new because the picture that had been there previously was a different size and you could see the white behind the new picture where, again they hadn't painted. There was mildew in the caulking all around the tub which was disgusting and the wallpaper border was peeling off. Our room was supposedly a non-smoking room but the comforter on the bed had cigarette burn holes in it and the counter and desk were also burned by cigarettes. The room smelled of cigarette smoke. The chair in the room has some kind of stain on it that looked like someone had thrown up on it and it hadn't been cleaned. The hallway smelled strongly of whatever deodorizer they were trying to use to cover up the smoke odor. Since we had nowhere else to stay because we are from Washington and the hotels in the area were booked for the three days, we put up the with the room. But we are very dissapointed that we paid so much money for a room that wasn't fit to spend any time in.
