This is a typical Hampton. Excellent service, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The usual Hampton breakfast. Everything is up to the high standards I expect with the Hilton Chain.

On my last trip, the AC failed in my room on the last night and they could not get it started. Management offered me another room, but since it was my last night, I chose to stay instead of repacking to change rooms. I told them not to worry about it, since I live in Texas, and am used to the heat. 10 minutes later, there were 2 employees knocking on my door with two fans, snacks, 2 bottles of cold water and 3 cans of diet coke. I’m only sorry that I didn’t get their names to give them credit for outstanding service.

I'll be kind , since most of negative comments would be about stuff that should be better once they finish their remodel. It has not started yet at the date of this review (Sept. 2011), but they do have information in the lobby that says it will be starting soon.

If you're are staying here you're probably staying for business or have some sort of personal business in the general area. I can't see any other reason to stay in Carol Stream other then that. So if you are going to stay you probably have not many other options in the area or your company put you up there.

That being said, this is a Hampton and with a Hampton Inn you can expect a few things since they are mostly alike other then what the rooms look like. You'll get a good price, excellent service from the staff, a free and descent breakfast, clean rooms and a safe and comfortable hotel. This Hampton has all that, so if that's all you need you'll be fine.

Like I said in the description title they will be remodeling soon. The rooms are very basic and dated. The TV is pretty small and outdated and they have plastic plants that should just go away. The bathrooms are large enough but simple and the air is not central air, it's one of those ones that are under there window with few setting other then Hi / Low Hot / Cool. I'm sure most of this will be better once they are done, other then the air. If I had one complaint that might not be changed was that my comforter was super lumpy in the squares that contained the fill. All the fill was clumped out a big ball and not spread out. It was like sleeping with a blanket full of tennis balls. This was switched out during my stay and the second one was much better.

The pool / hotub is indoors and nice. I didn't go into the pool because it was a bit cold for the weather, but the hot tub was large and nice.

The gym is a bit weak, hopefully they remodel that too. It's pretty small and there are no free weights. Just a couple of machines (treadmill/bike/elleptical)

One tip I would give would be the room view you prefer, Even number rooms have a view of the car dealership next door and odd actually have a view of the area, even though there isn't much to see other then homes and trees.

There is an AM/PM just a minute walk from the hotel in case you need anything quick and convient and there is a small but nice bowling alley across the street in case you don't want to drive to get a drink.

Stayed at this hotel because the (more expensive) Holiday Inn nearby did not include free breakfast, and because of the reviews here. They're all true. It's a nice clean place with comfy beds and clean rooms.

Great channel selection on the TV but it's time to upgrade to flat screens.

It is off the beaten path if you're looking to stay close to the freeway/expressway though. But for the price I thought it was worth the drive.

We arrived late (almost 10:00) and there aren't many places open to eat nearby. We ended up having White Castle, which is OK by me.

Would definitely recommend as a low cost but "nice" option.

My family was in town for a wedding and this hotel was where the block of rooms for the wedding guests was. In addition to our group, there was a Little League tournament going on. The hotel was completely full. To start with, they selected this weekend to have the majority of the parking lot closed off due to repaving (including the undercover entrance). The card keys didn't always work and sometimes took over 5 minutes to get to work in the door, if at all. My sister and I got locked out of our room and then she and my dad got locked out of the side door in the pouring rain. No one was manning the front dest the majority of the time. My cousins had to wait 15 minutes when they arrived at 3:30 in the morning (with 3 young children in tow) and one morning while we were sitting in the lobby, someone else was hollering for them, but took at least 5 minutes for anyone to help him.
The pool and hot tub seemed nice, but there was a green stain on the cement where the water was placed in the two (possibly algae?). My cousin asked them check the chlorine levels and no one knew how to check them.
Our room was very humid feeling, even with the AC running. The carpet was very sticky when walking on it your shoes would stick, and whatever it was stayed on your shoes. I had paper that got stuck on my shoes after walking on the carpet. The one highlight were the beds, they were very comfortable.
There was supposed to be free high speed internet, but I was never able to get my iPod touch to find it. My dad had a hard time getting his computer to connect as well.
Both Saturday and Sunday morning, they ran out of food in the continental breakfast. They didn't seem to be prepared for having a full house.
I've stayed in a lot of different Hampton Inns and this one doesn't hold up to their standard.
