The town of Cahokia doesn't have much to recommend it, but this is a great place to stay. We're picky about cleanliness and were pleased. The woman at the front desk must have been an owner. Never have I seen a clerk this outgoing and helpful. She went out of her way to make us feel at home.
The area is not the best, but we never felt uncomfortable.
Its probably the closest hotel to the Casino Queen other than the casino's own hotel. But you have to drive through some questionable areas. But then, those of us who play at that casino know to expect that!

Sure Cahokia didn't have much in the way of restaurants, and was a bit out of the way - but that's what we wanted. The room was clean - the bathroom was clean - the free breakfast was good. We didn't get the room to hang out at this hotel, we got it to sleep and that was acceptable. The bed was soft - we're used to our harder bed, but it was okay. There's a good restaurant within a few minutes driving that the hotel recommended, Sawmill Barbeque. A quaint little place. If you want a different type, you might have to drive a bit. Yes, this hotel is off the beaten path but it was good for us!

I made my reservation through the Choice Hotel Website and check in was quick and easy. The front desk clerk was nice and very accommodating and attentive. There is a small Wal-Mart and a couple of fast food restaurants near this motel but not much else. You will have to drive a few miles if you want something other than fast food. The room was clean and the well maintained and the bed was comfortable and well made. The wireless internet was spotty in my room and very slow especially in the early evening when it was obvious that several guests were online at the same time. The breakfast consisted of the normal fare, cereal, pastries, muffins, coffee and juice. The motel is about 15-minutes from downtown St. Louis. This motel is a basic no frills accommodation that served my needs for a reasonable price. If in the area again I would consider staying here.

When we first checked in, the front desk person seemed to have very little idea what she was doing, and was very short with us for some reason. When we got our keys and entered the room, it was actually quite nice. There were, however a couple of complaints I had. The wireless internet seemed very spotty. It would fade in and out and I had a lot of trouble maintaining a connection. I called down to the front desk to ask for either an ethernet cable or a wireless bridge, but they had neither. So since I remembered I'd forgotten a few toiletries at home, I went to the Wal-mart across the street to pick up an ethernet cord. 20 minutes, and $15 later, I find that the room is without any sort of ethernet wall outlets whatsoever. Money well-spent.
After all this mess, I decide I'd like a cigarette to relax a little. Called down to the front desk for matches, and I was rudely informed that they don't have any. Back to Wal-mart for a cheapo BIC.
Let's hope tomorrow I find more suitable lodgings.
All in all, I'd say that the building could use a few minor upgrades, and the staff needs a complete overhaul.
