“What a total rip off”

Stayed here two nights as I was moving home from Burr Ridge to points north. Husband got the reservation. Room smelled. It was very clean but it had that closed in musty odor which some places have with no ventilation to speak of. If you plan to extend your stay and want to make simple meals, forget it. Virtually no pots. It will be Stouffers or pizza every night. i.e. a lousy kitchen set up. Stay less than 7 days... the beds will not be made. The room will not be cleaned. You have to tromp down to get fresh towels. Vending machines overpriced are is the laundry facilities. This place screams...let's charge 90 bucks a night because it is Burr Ridge and give them as little as possible for their money. In other words....POOR VALUE FOR MONEY. Burr Ridge is upscale community. There is a very nice upscale shopping center across the street. A good ethnic grocery (Brookhaven)store with good fresh vegies and luncheon meats. So do yourself a favor. Don't stay at this cheeseparing, stripped down dump. Go across to Springhill Suites or Homestead Suites.
Staff was nice what few there were...only two people in the whole hotel, but they seemed dispirited. Bet they have trouble keeping people. Safety should be OK as the Burr Ridge police are just down the street. Trust me on this, though. I will NEVER stay at another Extended stay America.

Room Tip: Cross I 55 and stay somewhere else!

“BYO...everything”

We spent 7 nights at this property, choosing it because of the location and price. The room's furnishings felt sparse; however, the hotel seemed to be undergoing a bit of remodeling so perhaps that was the reason. It was in need of a good cleaning! The space for clothing & luggage was surprisingly limited, considering the property is geared to longer stays. No cabinet or shelving in the bathroom to put your stuff, which brings me to Bring Your Own...everything. Which we did; I just needed to borrow a hair dryer from the front desk. There is a vending machine in the laundry area where you could purchase toiletries; Walgreen's is a short drive north if you don't. We didn't cook while there but enjoyed the fridge, microwave, & coffee maker. Cookware & utensils are provided but nothing to clean with afterwards, so we used plastic or paper plates when reheating leftovers. We had housekeeping come once, in the middle of our stay. If you want more frequent service, it's available for a fee. Basically, we were happy with our stay but glad that I brought most of our "comforts of home" along in those little 3-oz bottles.

“Ok for short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2007

Booked thru Priceline. Discovered that had to pay $20 per night for room with two beds - queen bed allocated - all Hotwire and Priceline guests would need to do the same. However, did get allocated Non-smoking...and the room was quite large and appeared clean with kitchen area (fridge, m/wave, toaster, cooktop) and seemingly was renovated, (but not very high quality); very small bathroom area. Front check-in staff were very helpful and pleasant. Didn't notice any noise. Beds were twin and VERY short! (my companion is 6'2"). I was ok with hotel....however, my companion informed me after we left that he smelled smoke off the pillow and that the bed linen was wrinkled and stained!....yuck!...(he didn't want to complain .....) All seemed ok up till then! Note: NO shampoo, shower gel or hair-dryer in bathroom......tho there was soap. Paid $46 on Priceline and then another $20 on check-in for two beds......probably could have had a nicer hotel for that price to start with......would be ok if happy with one queen bed. Free parking; close to Interstate 55.

  • Liked — cheap, near Interstate 55
  • Disliked — extra cost; stained bedding

“Poor housekeeping and minimal amenities”

Don't count on internet maps to help you find this hotel! If you decide to stay here, you'll want to take exit 276A from Interstate 55 (you will see the ESA as you exit), then turn right at the stop light, onto Frontage road, which will take you to the Extended StayAmerica Efficiency Studios. If you're traveling to/from Midway airport, allow about a half hour each way.

I stayed here at an inexpensive rate via an opaque, prepaid booking service. The room was fairly spacious, with a big (non-enclosed) closet area, and included a functional kitchenette. But there were crumbs on the counters, leftover foods in the refrigerator, and gunk splattered all over the inside of the microwave oven. Yuck. Not much in the way of utensils or cookware was supplied. The carpeting was dingy and stained, the one queen bed was hard as a rock, the pillows understuffed, and there was no hairdryer, no shampoo, and no radio in the room. The TV was small, but functional, the wireless internet worked fine, but costs $4/day, and the heat/air-conditioning worked fine. Parking is free, no hot or continental breakfast is available, and the front desk was only open from after 7AM, until 11PM, but the staff was pleasant. The stairwells stank of garbage. There are better options to be had in the same price range: I'll not be back to this hotel.
