Stayed here three or four times now in four months on business. The hotel is well-designed and extremely clean with attentive staff and comfortable, well-maintained rooms. I haven't eaten in the hotel as all of my meals were out. My most recent stay, after a long trip staying at six hotels during this week, fine-tuned my attenae on hotel quality and I'm not very satisfied with a number of things about Chicago Marriott "Southwest" in Burr Ridge. The 800 reservation staff, though usually excellent, doesn't know where the hotel is located. The Indian woman (as in Mumbai) doesn't know the difference between Chicago and Mars. Mr. Marriott, bring our 800 number jobs home. Number two: The hotel rate is high for what you get. No microwave or refrigerator or even a high priced liquor/beer cabinet. There are some great local markets nearby where you can pickup nutritious food if you're on a special regimen or workout diet.
What really offends is a $13.50 daily charge for wi-fi. In a day and age when everyone is giving it away, this is difficult to accept even if it is a business expense. This is probably my last stay at this hotel and maybe I should rethink my membership in Marriott Rewards. It's not worth the trouble particularly if you are supposed to be a guest who patronizes the institution on a regular basis. You really don't care about your guest. There are so many other hotels that want this business.
I lived in nearby for 15 years so I know the area well and always thought this hotel was one of the best locally, but not anymore. Couldn't recommend it to clients or colleagues.
