I stayed at the Wyndham Garden Inn in Buffalo Grove for three nights in November of 2011 with a group of eight seminary classmates as we held a mini-reunion in conjunction with a conference at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington. I would agree with previous reviewers who have acknowledged that this hotel is relatively nice and fully functional, if a bit old and tired. The check-in process was quick and painless, and there was plentiful, free parking. I was thrilled to walk into our huge bedroom, with vaulted ceilings, which was very clean and well-appointed. And the bed was extremely comfortable.
Unfortunately, the bathroom was rather small. The TV was old and relatively small. The hallways and carpets were all very well-worn and somewhat unbecoming for a hotel that was otherwise quite nice. Though I appreciated having access to a computer and printer in the lobby, there was only one computer, which was very slow, so it was only useful to me late at night when other folks weren't lined up to use it for air travel confirmations and other such stuff. And I was disappointed that the breakfast buffet was $9.95, especially since I had just stayed at an equally nice hotel the previous week with a complimentary breakfast buffet.
We enjoyed a few nice soaks in the hot tub beside the indoor pool, which was nice. There were several spacious and comfortable seating areas in the lobby area where we could hang-out as a group and chat. There were free drinks available at the bar, with coupons that we were given when we checked in.
Overall, we had a fine stay at this Wyndham Garden Inn. We slept well, had some great social time together, and the price was quite cheap (less than $45 per night per room, including taxes, through Priceline). The location was a bit removed from some of the other stuff we wanted to see in the Chicagoland area, but there were plenty of nearby restaurants to keep us well-fed. I wouldn't seek out this hotel on a future trip to Chicago, but I'd be quite satisfied if we ended up at this place again.
