Due to the schedule of our trip to Chicago, we had to check into the hotel a few hours early. We called ahead to inquire if this was possible and we were told that we would be charged an extra $25 for early check-in. Upon arrival, though, we were greeted by friendly staff who allowed us to check in early for no extra charge, which we very much appreciated. The lobby is inviting and attractive, and arcade games in the common area give a family-friendly vibe. Free wifi, free parking, and free no-frills breakfast were also nice touches. While the immediate surroundings of the hotel are very industrial and not so attractive, the location of the hotel was convenient, with a short drive to many restaurants, shopping venues, and Midway airport.
We did notice that our room had a musty (or mildewy?) smell that never quite went away during our 2-night stay, even after keeping the window as wide open as possible. I noticed some spider webs in the corner, and the reclining chair in our room had suspicious stains that rendered it unsittable for us. We were also woken up early in the morning by a tractor trailer starting up very loudly, presumably in the industrial compound next door. The tv remote was also nowhere to be found. But the bed was comfy and the shower was nice and hot with good water pressure.
This hotel is certainly nothing fancy, but since we were out all day seeing the sights, it suited our need for a safe and comfy place to sleep. For the price we paid, the value outweighs the few minor complaints we have.
