“Not what you might expect.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2011

We arrived late on a Thursday evening and the front desk girl was nice. Her boyfriend (who said he worked there), just loitered around a bit drunk. I expected the hotel to be new because the advertisement said "Now open". That was my misunderstanding. The lobby, halls and meeting room were filled with what we later found out were residents at the hotel. Most of the people lived there!
When we got to our room, the door appeared to have been once opened with a pry bar! The frame was all out of wack and the door cracked. Luckily it locked. The towels were stained and there were burn wholes in the bedspreads. There was only the sheet and the spread, no blanket. The telephone was completely stripped of all it's numbers, letters, and instructions. The curtains were half unhooked from the rod. The decor was from the 80's. There was no fridge or microwave in the room as the advertisement stated, but we found out that there was one microwave and fridge in the breakfast area (which we did not even enter because all the residents hung out in there.)
No one was rude or unfriendly, but we felt as if we were "intruding".
It wasn't real loud, but there is constant movement in the halls, lobby, and meeting room at all hours. It also appeared that they might rent the rooms by the hour, but the sign behind the desk didn't approve of that. (See picture.)
We coudn't tell who was staff or who lived there. Definately not a place for women traveling alone.
For $50 bucks a night, we sure got our "no frills" stay. No complaints, just would not stay there ever again. We'd like a real hotel.
On a possitive note and the reason we picked this hotel; they allow pets at no extra charge.

“Bad Neighborhood, Great Service, Looks like the projects inside.”

We didn't end up staying, and were fortunately able to cancel our reservations, but not one review on here tells you that the cars in the parking lot don't have their hubcaps, and that the area is very rundown, and frankly, scary. The check-in lady was very courteous and friendly, and it was easy to find another Red Roof, but I would not recommend this one to anyone, given the location.

“Room for improvement”

Stayed at Super 8 September 2004. Check in went smoothly but when we got up to the room, it felt like we had entered a sauna. We immediately tried to turn the air conditioning on, but the air con was D-E-A-D. It didn't even attempt to work. We called down to the front desk who sent someone up while we were out and about. When we returned to the room, it was a little better, but not much.... made for rather uncomfortable sleeping. My cousin was also staying here down the hall and had the same problem with her room as well.

This property isn't the cleanest around nor is the front desk staff the friendliest or most knowledgeable, but we did get a good rate.

“Bad Room, Great Breakfast”

When we arrived at the hotel, we was well greeted and got our room within 5 mins. but when we got to the room, the airwas not on and the room felt like it was a 100 degrees. We turn on the air and left and when we returned to the room it only cooled a little. Later that night we bought a phone card out of the lobby and tried to use it, but it did not work, so we contacted the recepotnist and she came and also could not get the phone working. The next morning the horrible stay was reversed when we had the best breakfast we have had in a hotel.

“AWFUL, do not stay there!!”

Our room's air conditioner was not working. We called the front desk and their only suggestion was to turn it off and wait five minutes. We were not offered another room. So after waiting and waiting, we got another room because we were so uncomfortable, and was charged two completely different rates. We complained and asked to have the manager call and am still waiting for that call.
