I just returned from a weekend at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL after a 70 day stretch of work and school with only one day off. I needed a break! I emailed the hotel and they quickly arranged a room for me.
The accommodations were simple, but clean and in good working order.
The television had 60 channels. I enjoyed using the exercise equipment every day. The hotel is set among 200 acres of beautiful green grass, trees, and inviting landscaping. It is part oof the The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. here were several areas to walk for
spiritual renewal and there were Catholic masses available every day
- but you do not need to be any particular faith to enjoy this beautiful setting.
Continental breakfast was provided at the hotel each morning; in addition to the usual oferings it included fresh fruit, muffins, cereals, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. The restaurant was a short walk
across the street. The coconut shrimp was served with a wonderful peach salsa, the St. Louis style chicken salad on a croissant was tasty and the homemade potato chips were the best I've ever had. There was also a soup and salad buffet available during every lunch and dinner hour.
The staff - whether at the hotel, restaurant, or gift shop - were all friendly and attentive.
I spent hours walking through the various outdoor gardens and found many cozy, comfortable spaces to read and relax.
It was a perfect weekend.
