We were in town to visit relatives who did not have room for us. There are only two hotels in town and I think this was the better of the two. It was clean and quiet but kind of pricey for the location and amenities.

The wireless worked fine, the indoor pool was open, busy and looked clean, the clerks were very friendly (although a bit obtuse) and the continental breakfast consisted of fresh coffee, assorted pastries (store bought donuts and such), cereal, juice and milk. If you want more substenance, there is a "mom and pop" diner right next door that serves a great country breakfast.

I would rather not stay in a motel in Beardstown at all, but if I have to, I will stay at Super 8.

Staying at this hotel is horrible. The hallway area emits a constant odor and the room furniture is old, with wobbly chairs. The internet connection doesn't work and the breakfast is an old cheese danish, plastic wrapped to a paper plate...

NEVER STAY HERE!!!! My trip was for 5 days & I stayed at this location because it was the only hotel that offered internet in the area. It was clean & you felt secure. As it turned out they had a problem w/ their wireless router & internet was not available. I was a little disappointed that I could not verify my return flight home or keep up on things at work but I figured I might be able to get a $10 refund or maybe something for my next visit. When I approached the owner he told me I should have stayed somewhere else. I explained I was traveling alone & didn't want to pick up in the middle of my trip & try to find a different hotel. The conversation got so heated on his side that I was repeatedly begging him to stop yelling at me. There were other people around which was very embarrassing & I was amazed at how angry he had gotten so quickly. I asked him if he realized how mad he was & to please stop yelling at me. It got to the point where I told him to forget the refund; I just wanted my receipt back. When I reached for it he pulled it away from me & said he would return $20. I thanked him & left, never to return to this location. I'd rather stay in a tent!!! It guess it's a nice hotel as long as you don't bring anything to the attention of the owner & expect a little customer service.

Called hotel direct from a different city to get a reservation. Hotel clerk gave me a price and said he would hold for me. When I got there, he charged me a different price and did not say a word. I looked at my receipt right after I left the front desk and the clerk had charged me $10 more for the room than quoted over the phone. I went to tell the hotel clerk, but he wasn't to be found and there was nobody else there.

I had to go past the front desk to unload my luggage. The clerk still was nowhere to be found. I made two or three trips to my car and still no clerk at the front desk or a way to get a hold of -- like a bell or anything. I had plenty of other things to do than to wait around for a hotel clerk.

Next day, I asked the hotel clerk why I had been charged more than what he had quoted. INSTANTLY, he starts yelling at me and I was really taken back by that type of behavior. I asked him to please lower his voice which he ignored. It wasn't worth the price to stay there and hear this rude man that refused civil behavior so I told him that I needed to go and left the hotel.

Later that day, I talked to a local person about that hotel and she said to avoid that hotel if you can help it and stay at the locally-owned hotel since there are not too many choices in Beardstown.

Would NOT recommend hotel because of hotel clerk (manager? owner?) alone.
