Last stop of our holiday. Have always liked La Quinta Inns/Suites and were well pleased with this hotel for the rate we paid. Seems to be on Trinity Uni campus with direct access from I 94.
The girl who checked us in was a bit sullen and of the 3 people who were milling around when we got there not one of them greeted us with a hello!! However:-
Lovely spacious top floor suite with separate living/sleeping areas.
Tasteful decor/furniture and massive workdesk with most comfortable reclining office chair I've ever rested my bottom on.
Nice comfy bed and big bathroom with oversize vanity. Shower was powerful with lots of constant hot water. The micro/fridge area would benefit from a sink.
Our suite was on southeast facing side and, whilst not directly overlooking the highway, the traffic noise was very noticeable. Earplugs recommended.
Breakfast area has plentiful seating and overlooks indoor pool. Usual breakfast fare plus waffle maker.
The hotel has a small convenience store which we used to buy some food one evening after a long, tiring day out in Chicago. It was pricey but were glad of it in this instance as the alternative would've been to take the car and go in search of a restaurant.
Good location for easy access to Chicago without car. Drive to Deerfield Station, park and catch MD-N Metra train to Union Station. Be aware, most of the parking spaces at the station are reserved for residents or fee paying but if you don't mind a 10ish minute walk there are lots of free on road spaces on Chestnut St north of Greenwood Ave.
