We had a wonderful stay at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch. As with any property, there are some positives and negatives - but, without a doubt, we'd return!
Location - it's in the middle of nowhere, which is great! Views of the Sawtooth Mountains are right outside. If you are into lots of city type activity, this is not the place. If you are into relaxation and the beauty of nature, this is the place.
Rooms - we stayed in a cabin. It was nice, with good size and nice bath. Nights were chilly and I was somewhat worried about being able to stay warm. That wasn't a problem at all! Cabin had a great heater, in addition to fireplace.
Cleanliness - On the surface, Lodge was clean. As with most hotels, don't look behind the bed! Behind bed and corners of cabin could be cleaned just a bit more - however, you're in this beautiful and comfortable setting - for some reason, it didn't bother me quite as much.
Service - I'd rank service as good, not great. It would have been nice to have been escorted to our cabin, instead of just given keys and pointing cabin out to us. I expect this level of service at a luxury type property. In a lot of smaller properties like this, you get to know some of the staff. That didn't happen here at IRMR because we just didn't have that level of interaction with staff.
Food - All meals are included. Breakfast was great. Lunch was sandwich and was good (for lunch). We were there one evening for cast iron cook out dinner and it was OK - I didn't get it, because it seemed to have a spanish theme. I would have preferred good cowboy type cooking! We were there for one evening of their "fine dining" and it was great!!!
Sleep quality - Beds were great! Sleep was wonderful.
Other comments - this was really a unique type property, with lots of history. There was plenty to do, with great common room to relax, with lots of books and games. One thing was missing - a coffee pot in the room! This is an important thing to me. That would be a nice addition. Coffee was available in the main lodge at all times.
I know I've commented on some less-than-positives. Even with the ones mentioned, we'd return and we'd recommend this property to others, with enthusiasm!
One more note - there is a review of the IRMR that can't be reviewing this property. It talks about other things around the ranch - and there is NOTHING at this property except this little charming hotel/ranch. It states hotel is right in town - IRMR is in middle of nowhere. Review mentions microwave and coffee pot - IRMR rooms do not microwaves and coffeepots. Please disregard that review when looking at these reviews.
