We chose to save a few bucks and stayed in a regular room rather than a themed room. The room itself was as you would expect from any other name brand hotel. Nothing really stuck out as terrible, nor as exceptional, with the exception of the "amenities". This place advertises "Free High-Speed Internet Access", "Free Movie Channel(s)", and "HBO" on the website, as well as the marquee sign.. I'll agree that it offer's "free" internet access. I would have to strongly disagree with the speed of it and I guess they don't claim that it is usable, just that it is there. We were the second room from the lobby and could barely detect the wireless, which meant it wasn't usable at all. Going to the lobby we could detect it much better and just barely use it. The cable or satellite service was non-existent when we were there. Every so often we'd check it and you might see three or four channels with fuzz, and non of them were movie channels. The front desk claimed it was a power related problem because of the development that BYU-Idaho is doing. Of course they didn't mention anything about it when checking in, only after we had issues and approached them about it. I rated the service as average because of this. Had they mentioned it right away, then they would have been rated above average. The pool was fine for us (chlorine levels appeared to be normal), although it seemed a little on the cool side. The hot tub/whirlpool was also fine. The afternoon cookies were a nice touch. The breakfast is more than a continental breakfast, but don't expect made to order breakfast either. Applebe's is next door and you receive 10% off if you tell them you're staying at the AmericInn (don't however expect beer/wine on Sundays at any restaurant in Rexburg). We wouldn't let the above problems deter us from staying there again because I'm quite sure the issues will be (if not already have been) solved.
