I first phoned for reservations on May 16. My niece had reserved a block of rooms for family coming to the area for a graduation on May. 25.
I called at 3:30ish PST. I talked to a young man who found no record of a reserved block of rooms. He transfered me to the Shilo Suites thinking that might be where the reservations were blocked in. The Shiloh Suites had no record of a blocked set of rooms. I was sure my niece had correctly saved these rooms and asked for help in finding the right location. She transfered me to reservations where a woman found the block of rooms at the Shilo Inn. I said I needed the main level because of my sister's physical limitations and I wanted adjoining rooms. She said the first floor was having some work done and might not be ready by May 25 but she could put us in adjoining rooms on the second floor. I said that would only work if there was an elevator. She assured me that there was an elevator at the Shiloh Inn.
When I asked to reserve two using my credit card, she said I could not because they were reserved in my nieces name and the only way I could get them was to have my niece cancel those two rooms from her reservation. So, I had to call niece; she called Shilo Inn to cancel, she called me back and finally I reserved two rooms for May 25 and 26.
What an unpleasant surprise to arrive at 5:00P.M on May 25 and find that we had two rooms on the second floor but they had no elevator and had never had an elevator!. So, I asked to switch to two rooms on the first floor. I expressed my displeasure at the situation and Sean gave me a $10 discount per room per night. That was done but the rooms were at opposite ends of a long hall. We got our luggage and when we went to the rooms they were not ready. Neither one was ready and each had a housekeeper working in it. (I must say now that throughout this the housekeeping staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. (Kudos to them)
I was annoyed because my 81 year old mother and my disabled sister cannot stand in the hall for periods of time waiting. The housekeepers kindly let them sit in the rooms while they finished tidying. My 19 year old niece went back to the front desk to express our disatisfaction. When she returned she was livid. She said Sean had been rude and implyed that the whole situation was our fault. That if we had kept our original rooms this wouldn't have happened. So, I went to the front desk to express my annoyance at Sean for being rude to my niece. He was quite flustered, redfaced and said he did not in any way mean to insult her. He then said that perhaps this was all an error and I was actually meant to be at the Shiloh Suites. But a computer printout was on the counter with a list of reservations and my name was there for two rooms. So, I said I could not have been reserved there or my name would not be on his list.
So, we settled in and then headed to the graduation. When I went to bed I found it to be the hardest bed I had ever slept on. It was most uncomfortable.
The next morning I decided I couldn't sleep on that bed again and I called to find another accomodation. Then I went to the front desk to cancel my Saturday night reservation and get a refund. The people were very pleasant and one asked for details of my experience with Sean.
They did let me cancel and I did receive a full refund (although that in itself was an issue because they only keep $200 in cash and my refund was $171.00. They wanted to give me the 71 and mail the remaining $100 to me.)
So, I moved to another motel and had a pleasant time for the rest of my visit.
