“Next Best Thing To Home”

I stayed at the Best Western University Inn for almost 8 months, the staff was very helpful and pleasent at every level of the hotel. The staff did every thing to make me feel right at home and the hotel had all the ammeneties that you could ever ask for. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. I checked around and the rates at The University Inn were by far the best value for the money. If you are ever within a 100 miles of Moscow ID I suggest a stay at The Best Western University Inn

“Badly Treated as Seniors”

Too much corporate droning at front desk caused us problems.
One week before stay, I held reservation with my debit/mc card, which front desk accepted.
When we showed up to register, credit card was declined (I cannot confirm this because I couldn't see what was on the computer screen). Condescendingly, I was told I could use the business computer room to check my balance (there was enough balance to pay for room and deposit and I didn't need to check the computer). In the cold, I walked to the Winco Food Store and bought a money order with that same credit card and got cash from that same credit card to pay for my room and $150. deposit for incidentals. (Did they really think I was going to spend any extra with them?). So, we checked into a clean, spacious room with early check in (which I appreciated). Next morning, we appeared in the lobby to check out and collect our $150. cash deposit. I was told someone had to "check the room" before the deposit was returned. "WHAT! Do I look like a teenaged party animal to you?" (I am 64). Oh, and at the time of check in, the clerk wrote our name into the appointment book for shuttle service to the Pullman Airport (which is the only reason we stayed at that hotel) and at the 5:45 departure time, our names were gone out of the book, so the drive got back in barely enough time to get us there. Hassled for a reason? Was it because my husband is black? Was it corporate stupidity or racism? One of the problems with this property is that it doesn't have enough competition; the other hotels need to get going. The check-in clerk had the option of calling the manager for help. Could they have put in the credit card number some other way, rather than relying on the strip? Just wondering again...why was I hassled?
Even after mistakes were found, there was no acknowledgement, no admission, no apology.
Same old American corporate mistake and denial.
Moscow is a college town; hate to say it but don't travel there as a senior. If you are an overnight er, getting charged over $100.(AARP) for a motel and asked to deposit $150. for room damages, just move on.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the rear of the building do have have highway noise.

Our hospitality service goal here at the Best Western Plus University Inn is to "create happy guests by providing the finest in friendly service and quality products." We will use your comments to reinforce our continueing goals.

Regarding your comment on your debit card denial, our records indicate that it was entered three consecutive times and all three times the card was declined. We do not have any idea why it was declined. This would be information available only to you as the card owner. We recommend you contact your provider as we cannot do this on your behalf. We can only respond to the information we receive when entering the card. We do apologize for the inconvenience.

As to the shuttle service....We reviewed your request for shuttle service for the morning of your departure and noticed that an entry was made incorrectly for the morning of your arrival instead of your departure. It was not removed just entered on the wrong date. Again we apologize for this.

Thank you again for your comments. If business or pleasure brings you back to the Moscow area, we look forward to you staying with us here at the Best Western Plus University Inn.

“West coast to midwest and back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We took a road trip in Sept/Oct of 2011 and stayed at seven different hotels. The prices ranged from $67 to $145 a night. The Best Western Plus were the best value, as they were in good repair and clean. They also had a continental breakfast that compared to the higher priced stays. Here is how I would rate this particular hotel. This place clean and had a nice room with fridge. It is right across the road from the University of Idaho in Moscow and easy to find. It was fairly busy, but quiet. They had a breakfast that was probably the best of our trip. At $120 a night it was still a good deal. We would stay there again.

“Clean Hotel, Friendly Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Came to Moscow ID/Pullman, WA area for niece's graduation at WSU. I don't think it's such a good idea for both Univ of Idaho (which is logistically across the street from this hotel) and Washington State University (down the road about 7 miles from hotel) to conduct their graduation ceremonies on same day -- not sensible. Hotels in above cities and neighboring areas were booked for many months in advance, which is frustrating for all grad ceremony attendees for both universities.

Hotel was a bit expensive - have had some 3 or 4-star hotels with better room rates than this hotel (even a couple of 5-star hotels in New England). Although I began my hotel search about 4-5 months in advance, there didn't seem to be any other choice than Best Western.

Hotel was very clean, renovations were under way in outdoors area of hotel. Although the temperature during the day was hovering around 30 degrees, the entrance lobby area was very festive and very warm. Hotel hallways were a bit hard to maneuver; a bit of a maze just to get to your room. Service staff at dining areas (coffee shop and restaurant), housekeeping staff, and actually anyone with a BW ID badge walking down the hallways were very cheery and friendly -- that was a nice feeling. Front Desk were helpful, but very minimally so.

Complimentary breakfast was awesome. Lots to choose from - both hot and cold foods - had great coffee (which is important to me), different juices were very fresh, the hot food choices were excellent. The staff in the dining/seating area for the breakfasts were very, very helpful: They were very attentive, cleared and cleaned the tables immediately for next guests, offered assistance, always with a smile on their face - very enjoyable experience.

Easy to get to, lots of parking spaces, excellent service in their coffee shop-type restaurant (called The Pantry) -- very good prices with great food. We had lunch at The Pantry one day, with a party of 13 or 14 people. The young ladies accommodating our large group and setting up the large tables as well as the waitress helping us were all so very pleasant, patient, and quick. Another very enjoyable experience.

There was something that the hotel service did exceptionally well: It has many conference rooms available for private parties, company functions, etc. There seemed to be a lot going on in the hotel itself at this time of year: Graduation families from out of town staying at hotel, large tour-type buses parked in the parking lot, dropping off/picking up occupants, each banquet/conference room seemed to be utilized during the same weekend, with parties and dinners going on in each banquet room, lots of adults and children in and out of the hallways and rooms. The hotel was handling all of this very gracefully, was very organized, and seemed to have everything under control. Everyone seemed to be happy and having a good time -- no signs of chaos whatsoever.

“Clean, Clean, Clean!!!”

Let me start by saying I have never took the time before to write a review. However, this time I felt compelled to do so. Trying to book this property on a very busy Dad's weekend (my first) over at WSU the reservation manager worked hard to find me a room. When other hotels in the area were saying "sorry were full"( too bad for me), she really seemed to understood how important this weekend was, kept in touch and when a cancellation occured I was able to get a room. Just that alone will make me a loyal repeat custormer. The icing on the top was this hotel was by far the cleanest, quietest, well run property I've ever stayed at anywhere. I highly recommed it. T.H. (res. mgr.) hope you enjoyed the flowers I sent!
