“Nice Basic Hotel-New Management”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

I just spent the week at this hotel. I booked it through Hotwire and got a good deal (under $45 per night.) This place is no frills-just a basic, clean hotel. It's true, the breakfast is not that great, even by continental breakfast standards. The staff were quite friendly, though. I ended up speaking with the new manager who just started in August and he was working on improving the hotel. I think if you just need a clean, basic hotel, that is only about a 10 min drive from downtown, this place is fine. It would benefit from some upgrades--better tv's, more extensive breakfast.

“Not up to Par for HI Express Hotels”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

I felt this property common areas were dirty and amenities not well maintained. Breakfast was a joke. My room was ok, bathroom clean, but carpet need to be cleaned.

Wouldn't recommend.

“Great Location-Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

We came to Boise to see Wicked at the Ann Morrison Center and decided to stay in this hotel away from the city center because it saved us about $30.00 a night. It was a good decision. Pros to this location: The hotel is right off the main freeway and easy to find. It was a quiet location not surrounded by a lot of traffic or busyness. It was only 15 minutes to downtown. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had no problem checking in early so we could rest and get ready for the musical. I needed a bit of exercise after travelling all day and walking through the area outside was convenient, felt safe and had interesting views...what's nicer than baby ducks in a pond! The towels were very soft and the room decor was nice. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The refrigerator was large and worked really well. We popped popcorn in the microwave.
Cons: The room wasn't quite as clean as I would have liked. The chair in the room was really dirty with food and who know what else. I took a wash rag to it and did not complain. The breakfast wasn't anything to brag about but was convenient and adequate. The pool was not heated well enough and the hot tub was too hot...not deal breakers for us. We would stay here again.

“Okay stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

We have stayed here several times before and really don't have any major complaints. However, we came across something this trip that has me a bit miffed. We pulled into this hotel about 7:00 p.m. to see if there was a room available. The person at the front desk said that there were only a couple rooms left and gave us the prices. We told her that we would take a room and asked what the rate would be with either our AAA or AARP cards. She told us that, since the hotel was nearly full, they wouldn't give us either the AAA or AARP discount rate. This seemed odd to us because we didn't see that many cars parked outside. It seemed to us that this is an easy way to do away with discounts because we have no way of knowing if they were, in fact, full. I will be talking to AAA to check into this.

The woman at the front desk was not exactly friendly. We noticed that she was also working in the morning when we went down for breakfast, so it may be that she was just sleep deprived; however, she could have been a bit more pleasant.

The hotel room was clean; however, they could stand to do some renovating. Our sink had a crack in it and the general appearance was beginning to look worn. Also, every one of our pillows was lumpy. Breakfast area was clean and well stocked. Internet was a bit slow, but I was able to get my work done.

There is another HIE just down the road that we will probably try out next time we go through Boise.

“Nice place to spend a night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2008

Nice clean place close to the freeway with a decent typical breakfast offering recently upgraded from the typical Holiday Inn Express offering. Been here three times for overnight stays. Really nice part of the Boise area.
