I had been to the Lochsa on numerous occasions over the past 6 years and in fact had rafted with ROW before. However, I had never stayed at River Dance Lodge. I usually camped at O'Hara campground. This time I had invited a high school buddy and his wife together with my wife and I so sleeping on the ground was not an option. I should have opted for a cabin stay much sooner. The accommodations were great. Particularly the hot tub, after a day on the river. The staff was very friendly and the food at the Syringa Cafe was exceptional.

The cabins are as nice when they first opened and the staff is warm and friendly.
The food was fabulous. The lamb Tava was my favorite until I tasted Everett's prime rib. Fortunately we stay two nights each trip and can have them both. The guests in the cabin next to us were fun to hang out with. The weather was warm but the cool evenings make the hot tub the perfect way to recover from a rip roaring day of rafting the big rapids on the Lochsa.

My wife and I are on a 35 day driving drip from San Francisco across the North West. We believe the key to evaluating a hotel is to clarify one’s expectations and then compare the hotel being reviewed to those expectations. Our usual preference is a 4 star hotel in the $250 per night range. However, our choice to stay two nights at the River Dance Lodge was motivated by its location right on the river in Idaho’s Bitterroot Wilderness. It turned out to be an excellent choice.

The lodge is owned by ROW Adventures, an international adventure planning company. They offer all kinds of outdoor river and mountain recreational activities. As we only had one full day, we chose to hire a guide and took a 6 hour easy hike along the river during which we saw only 4 other people all day. The scenery was jaw dropping spectacular. The lodge manager, Jody, was very responsive to our needs. Call her direct with your questions. We stayed in a very spacious and comfortable 2 bedroom cabin with refrigerator and microwave. A big plus is that part of the complex contains a Café serving breakfast, lunch and dinner which are wonderfully prepared by Everett, their resident chef. The Saturday night prime rib steak special is to die for.

It takes a little driving effort to get there (the roads are all paved and well maintained) but then again there are few places left in North America that offer such an incredible setting away for it all. Highly Recommended.

My sorority sisters and I came up to the River Dance Lodge to relax after a long year and it was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were large and comfortable, the hot tub was amazing, and because it was remote we were able to have fun and not disturb other campers. As for the service, Lisa was very sweet and welcoming and wonderfully helpful. Thank you for everything.
