This hotel is right at the bottom of Bald Mountain skiing area. Although open throughout summer months, the service is down to someone doing business from a cell phone. We booked 2 nights in June and were offered a one-bedroom suite for $145/night. Good deal I thought at the time. On the day of our arrival, we got unexpected news from home affecting our autistic child -- we needed to get home asap. We decided to stay only one night and head back (by car to Seattle, WA) on the following morning. Upon checking-in, I asked Dan, the hotel attendant (who had taken my reservation from his cell phone), if we could get a refund for the 2nd night to which he replied that he would have to submit my request to 'the controller' and get back to us. When I asked for the controller's name, Dan refused to provide it. After several follow-up emails on our part, we finally got an answr from Dan, on behalf of this nameless controller that we'd be offered a credit but no refund -- even though I had explained earlier that a credit would not work for us as a) we are not skiers and b) with our special-needs child, we don't take vacation very often and never in the same areas. So much for customer service & empathy for their guests!
About the place:
Our one bedroom suite was stuffy, dusty, and I don't think any piece of furniture later than 1940 had been purchased. We couldn't read anywhere in the room at night because the lighting was so inadequate (low 40 watt bulbs in dark shaded-lamps). Bathroom had no toiletry products except for a small motel-style bar of soap. This is NOT what I expected for my $145/night. We would have been disappointed even without the lack of customer service understanding.
