“Nice place, but overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Very nice resort. Check-in, check-out staff were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Room was modern but fairly small. ( studio condo) Be warned, there is no stove or oven in these rooms, so making your own meals in them are pretty much out of the question. Even a toaster oven would have been nice. Enterance to the water park comes with the room. Nice bar area above the waterpark for adults to sit in hot tubs and have drinks. Ordered pizza from the pizza shop in the village which was excellent. Overall for what we paid I think its a little overpriced. If I had it to do over I would have called and tried to get a better room rate. Talking to some of the employees, the lack of snow this year is hurting them for business this year. (2011- 2012)

“What a fun time!”

This was our first visit to Morning Star Lodge. We stayed one night in a one bedroom condo and it was the nicest condo we have stayed in. It looked brand new and was really big. We had a full kitchen which we used for snacks and breakfast, which we brought with us. We had pizza delivered from Wildcat and ate it while watching a movie. It was yummy and fast. The kids slept on the fold-out sofa bed while my husband and I had the separate bedroom. The bathroom was huge and had everything we needed. We got a great fall season deal, which included access to the waterpark both the day of our arrival and the day of our departure. The park was closed when we arrived because of a power outage and the person at check-in notified us. They even called us to let us know the power was back on and the waterpark was back open. The waterpark was the highlight of the trip. With the great deal we got, we will definitely be back.

“Perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

This hotel is perfect for the family and I. Although this resort is located at a ski resort, we have been here at all times of the year. We go there for the indoor water park. The rooms/condos are amazing, they are comfortable and reasonable if you have kids that want to spend 8 hours a day at the well designed water park. Just be careful…the restaurants at this resort are TERRIBLE. Noah’s Canteen has to be the biggest waste of money I have ever been to. The rooms have great kitchens, we cooked Thanksgiving dinner here, but decided to go out for dinner the next night~ what a waste of time and money…I would have been happier with a bag of cold McDonalds….So, come for the rooms and the water park, but don’t be fooled by the “restaurants” on the property.

“Second time back...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

This August, we returned to Silver Mountain for the second time in 6 months. These condos are privately owned and we requested the same unit both times. Locations include village view, courtyard view, and mountain view. The front desk lady who answered our reservation call did a great job finding the unit that would best fit our family. Ours was a pet friendly unit to accommodate our small dog. The fully equipped kitchen was great and the in-suite laundry came in handy with young children. The only drawback was the sofa bed which our kids found very uncomfortable. We had mentioned this the last time we had stayed but nothing had changed.

Of course, with 3 kids, our focus was the waterpark. We absolutely love this waterpark as it is indoors (no need to worry about sunburns), is incredibly clean, and the large number of lifeguards are phenomenal. They are constantly on the move, watching out for anyone who might get in trouble. Very reassuring! While our youngest was content to hang out with Dad in the Lazy River, huge spray park, and kiddie area, our older children spent hours learning to surf on the Flow Rider. The instructor Jim was just amazing. He gave our kids countless tips and encouragement over the 3 days even during his off duty hours! The kids can't wait to go back again and get back on the surf. Another instructor Andrew was also a favourite and even got on the body board with our 3 year old so he could have some of the same fun as his older siblings. What a blast.

We took advantage of the Summer Friday Ride and Dine Gondola special. For $29 an adult (about $21 for kids I think), we got this amazing 20 minute long ride on the gondola to the top of the ski hill. Once up top, there was a bouncy castle, playground, and walking trails. Also included was a yummy supper. Choices included Huckleberry ribs, salmon, and chicken. Entrees came with cornbread and honey butter, mashed potatoes, corn, coleslaw, and a beverage. We ate outside overlooking the mountains and meadows. Absolutely gorgeous.

We took advantage of a couple of other dining options at the Lodge. While at the waterpark, we ordered burgers, wraps, nachos and mini corn dogs from the counter. Food was ok and the prices weren't too outrageous.. We ordered pizza from Wildcat one evening with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Outside of the hotel, food choices in Kellogg are limited. We grabbed some groceries in town for breakfasts and ended up driving into Coeur d'Alene about half an hour away for dinner one evening.

Would certainly recommend Morning Star Lodge as a fun family getaway.

“Fabulous room & really fun waterpark - all in one place for one price!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

We were looking for a fun last night on our family driving vacation and remembered seeing an indoor waterpark in Kellogg on our drive thru. Turns out it was a GREAT call!! The Morning Star Lodge at Silver Mountain Resort is pretty new and the condos show it. Our kids said we were in the fanciest, nicest place they had ever stayed (they were close to right.) It was a great condo (rented like a hotel room - appointed like an apartment) with a full kitchen (fairly lightly stocked as far as equipment & gear goes but it had all the basics), a dining table, living room with queen sleeper sofa (the kids "room") and gas fireplace, huge flat-screen tv, large bathroom with double vanity and separate door for the master bed room with a wonderful king bed, a nice patio with dining set and a pair of "coffee drinking" chairs, and a washer & dryer in a closet in the kitchen complete with the detergent!! All appointments seemed very nicely done. With the room, you get access to the indoor waterpark (Silver Rapids) for not only the day you get there and all days of your stay, but also for the day you check out. We packed up, loaded the car and then spent several hours play around in the park before leaving. Small-ish waterpark, but there were no lines, it was warmer water than others we've been to and had lots of things for younger kids (our kids are 11 & 7 and they loved it too!) Biggest drawback was that we had a great kitchen but there is no where on property to buy food. There was an easy fix though, I was directed by the front desk on a 5 minute walk to a local grocery store. Really liked this place and will keep it on the radar for future trips!

Room Tip: Upper floors may have nice mountain views...ground floors have nice big patios & outdoor dining...
