“Inexpensive Hotel with Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

Looking for a mini vacation before heading up to Yellowstone we chose to stay at the Guesthouse. Kassie treated us kind and gave us a nice room at an inexpensive rate. In the morning I was expecting the typical " free hot breakfast " and was pleasantly surprised to find a friendly server and the spread of eggs, sausage, pancakes and hashbrowns! My only disatisfaction was the ice machine was broken and had to go to the from desk for ice.

“Cancellation of Room on July 4th due to Family Death”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

After extensive planning with Kassie from the Guesthouse Inn, (we live in Idaho Falls) we felt our 4th of July was perfect for the anticipation of our family coming from Ohio to experience Idaho Falls's famous day of celebration with an evening of fireworks which is staged next to the hotel. Kassie went out of her way to make sure our group would enjoy the afternoon & evening and the use of the room we had reserved. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our reservation on July 3rd due to a death in the family. Kassie refunded our money which we used for the funeral expenses. Thank you for being so understanding.

“I wanted to push on to Salt Lake City, but noooo.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

So under pressure from the family we stopped in Idaho Falls and I reluctantly agreed to find accommodations in Idaho Falls. Initially I was attracted to Guesthouse Inn from the massive billboard on I-15 promising rooms for $59 and a free breakfast. Turns out the cost was $75 and the breakfast was only so-so.
The hotel in itself is somewhere between well kept and tired looking, the check in staff were friendly but ask them about a good pizza joint nearby and they'll tell you Domino's but of course that had nothing to do with the Domino's menus in the rooms or anything like that. Nope, no collusion there.
Still the room was decent enough, albeit plain, and it passed our mandatory bed bug check, however the hot tub downstairs was showing its age, and what we thought was a steam room was a janitors closet.
The next morning before leaving we stopped by for our free breakfast, don't forget to get the tickets from the front desk so you can eat BTW, and eat what was frankly a disappointing spread.
There was the usual hot and cold stuff but the pickings were slim, the bread and cereal was dry and the pancakes were only okay. Don't get me wrong , free breakfasts are great as they save me dishing out money later on, but the front desk staff made it out to be a cavalcade of great food that brings them in from miles around, but it was a case of overpromising and under delivering I'm afraid.
So a fail on the breakfast I'm afraid however, the restaurant staff were very nice and attentive.
In essence the Guesthouse Inn and Suites is a lot like Idaho Falls, fine for a stopover when you're tired but best to push on as soon as possible and caveat emptor on the breakfast.

Thank you for expressing your comments with us. To better clarify the rate, our billboard special changes a few times a week depending on occupancy. The rate posted is for 1-person and there is a $5.00 increase for the 2nd person and additional for an upgraded room. It is not our intensions to confuse you, but it is difficult to place all rates on a billboard. I'm happy to say that we have about 40 people per day that take advantage of the special rate each day. I hope you enjoyed the walk around the river during your stay.

“Not a good stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

I always try to find something good to say about even the worst properties we stay at, so I'll say that the desk staff was particularly friendly and helpful and the wireless service was good.

Ok...... We had to change rooms because the extremely noisy a/c unit broke down after we had settled in for the day. The second room faced the pool filled with noisy kids and oblivious parents. We wanted to do laundry at this stop, but only one washing machine was working and the dryers were crappy - all the items were still damp after one full cycle.

Worst of all was the "free" breakfast. Everything that was supposed to be hot was dead cold. When I mentioned it to the dining staff, I was told that it wasn't possible because the pans were in a steam table. I said that they should try the bacon and eggs themselves and, perhaps, set the pans out earlier to heat up (?). We wound up getting breakfast on the road.

I would not stay here again or recommend the hotel to anyone.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay. We greatly apologize for needing to switch rooms due to the air conditioner. When a guest has to switch rooms, the stay seems to be frustrating from that point on, which I understand. I will speak to the restaurant about the quality of the breakfast food, because it is a great way to start your day. I'm glad we were able to accommodate you during your stay as well as compensate you accoringly for your inconvenience.

“There is no way, EVER again!”

Rooms were dirty, ants were crawling all over every layer of the bedding, bathroom reaked of smoke, A/C didn't keep it much cooler then it was outside and considering it was 90 it wasn't much help, was called a liar by the staff and informed I must have put the ants in the bed just to receive a refund.
