We spent a few days here in mid-October just as the leaves were turning. The air was crisp and perfect for hiking, walking, and golf. The Lodge at Osprey Meadows is perfectly situated to take advantage of beautiful views of Lake Cascade, the Tamarack Resort ski mountain, and the pristine golf course. Golf course view rooms are most desirable but the other side of the building is fine too. Rooms were good sized and clean. Morels restaurant, on the premises, has very good food but is not open every day. In Donnelly, about 10-15 minutes away is a great restaurant called Buffalo Gal, not to be missed.

My family stayed in a gorgeous, well-stocked and comfy Tamarack townhouse for one night during the 2011 Fourth of July weekend. We chose Tamarack over McCall in order to avoid the McCall crowds during this busy summer weekend and because the Tamarack townhouses were available for one night rentals. (All McCall rentals I found online had a 2-night minimum stay.) After driving up from Boise and spending the early part of the day on Payette Lake, it was an easy half-hour drive away from the hustle and bustle back to Tamarack for a quiet and serene afternoon and evening.
We found that the financial problems of the Tamarack Resort didn't affect our stay at all. Everything in the townhouse was in perfect working condition and was immaculate.
We were very satisfied with the level of service provided by Valet Vacation Rentals, including their cheerful and professional response to my request to have someone double-check the townhouse BBQ for propane before our arrival, since we were planning a special birthday dinner.
We enjoyed the beautiful lodge swimming pool overlooking the golf course and lake during the afternoon, margaritas and steaks out on our private townhouse deck overlooking the forest in the evening, the private hot tub on the patio at night, and a walk with the dog along the resort trails the following morning.
Perhaps one of the reasons we had such a lovely quiet relaxing time at Tamarack is because it's not operating at full steam right now and, as such, it wasn't very crowded. We definitely recommend it to like-minded travelers who also want to get away from the madding crowd.

We rented a townhome from Idaho Resort Rentals, a man named Matthew Castrigno, he claims to be the owner. The townhome was full of little moth insects that scared our daughter at night. They landed in her hair, face, pillow, etc...I had to sleep under the covers with her. We called the Rental Company first thing in the morning and my husband spoke to Matthew. He YELLED at my husband and said they could spray the unit for bugs while we were skiing during the day. Our daughter has chronic asthma and uses a nebulizer and we told him that wouldn't work. We asked for another townhome. He was rude again, but finally said he would move us.

We spent another 2 hours packing our things, (this time should have been spent on the ski slopes) and we had to move ourselves to another unit. We got there and found ALOT more moth type insects. This time he said "DEAL WITH IT OR LEAVE" We asked for a total refund and he refused. We stayed 1 more days and then left.

We have paid this man over 500.00 for 2 nights of moth infested living. Our daughters were scared of the flying bugs and couldn't sleep for the 2 nights we were there. We are still trying to get our money back and will file a small claims suit with Valley County if we are not given a full refund.

The resort itself is a fun ski mountain. It is not great if you are a GREAT skier, but a wonderful place for beginner and intermediate skiers...But, stay away from IDAHO RESORT RENTALS........RUDE AND AWFUL service is what you will get.......

Staff and owners of the restaurants and ski rental shop were wonderful to us. Top rate service for a wonderful price.

It's too bad they are linked to the lodge. We were told the lodge had internet access. The next day we learned that only a few rooms have access and there is no WiFi nor access to other visitors except 8-4 at the ski area restaurant when the IT guy isn't working on the lifts.

We were told that we could cross country ski right from the lodge. We found out that the snow removal equipment made a 5' X 10' wall of snow making it impossible to get to the "trail" even if there had been one.

We took the lamp shades off the lights in order to get enough light to read and used shopping bags to suppliment our room's one, tiny trash can in the bathroom. The cracks in parking garage wall with water flowing through them and over an electrical outlet probably wouldn't pass a state safety inspection.

When I asked about the lack of services, I was told that with a 20% unemployment rate, this was like a third world. For $125/night, plus $65 maid clean fee, I expected better amenities than I got at $8 - $20/night hostels.
