“Issues with being overcharged/ cost vs. value issue/ poor exercise room”
I have stayed at mulitple LaQuintas and was very pleased with the hotel chain. In this particular case I was very disappointed. We had an arranged a "mother-daughter" weekend. When checking in, the manager greeted us very well and split out the cost of the rooms based off of our feedback. The price seemed high compared to the quality of the hotel, but we were happy because the location was a good "middle" ground to meet. Unfortunately, thereafter, we had multiple issues. When I went to exercise, found that there was 2 machines...one treadmill and one stairmaster (not room for anything else). Machines were old, no water, no towels.
Then we went to check out. We stood in line for about 10 minutes. Then got to the font of line, checked out one room, then sister started checking out another. At that point, realized that they had charged out the room inappropriately on the first room. We were asked to step aside while hotel attendant could work through the rest of the line. We ended up waiting another 10- 15 minutes waiting for that to happen. Then found out the hotel attendant really couldn't do anything about it because she was new (this took an additional 5 - 10 minutes). So the sisters came up with solution to how we would distribute the charges and we left, frustrated with the amount of time we had lost waiting in line, especially since it had eaten into our mother-daughter weekend.
Several days later, I checked my bank balance and found that the hotel had charged me twice. I then called LaQuinta number and the financial representative assured me that the money was being refunded to my account but it would take 4 - 5 days for it to show up. I spoke to that person about my experience, and then the manager called me back later... I again explained the poor customer service received. She apologized and explained the issue. Other than that, there was no offer of making things right.
I then went back to check my bank balance to find out I STILL have not been reimbursed the money for the overcharge. Needless to say, the LaQuinta name has come down several marks based off of my experience. I found the hotel rooms, etc to be maybe classified as "ok", but not worth the cost being charged. Found the exercise room to be extremely poor. Then found the continued mess that I am left to contend with to be very frustrating. I would rate this as a terrrible experience.
