I had the pleasure of staying at the Springhill Suites. Boise (North Cloverdale) while in Boise for the US Club Soccer National Championships.
As I've already hit 40 or more nights in domestic hotels so far this year, I must admit that I was not too excited to make the rather long journey from the East Coast to Boise.
This hotel, was, however, a most welcome surprise, making a difficult journey to new surroundings far more pleasant. The check-in clerk was amazingly pleasant and helpful, with a genuine, down home welcome that is, alas, often missing from America's service businesses.
The rooms were wonderful, with new LCD televisions being installed as I checked-in. The morning breakfast was superb. The variety of choices satisfied adults and 17 year old boys alike. The breakfast staff constantly hovered over the room, refilling coffee pots and buffet offerings, and inquiring as to whether everyone had what they needed.
With a block of 15 rooms, minor glitches and needs always arise. Having stayed in hotel rooms from Geneva (CH, not WI) to Boise, I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of meeting many folks with different attitudes, and skill levels, in hotel management. The GM at this Springhill comes in at the top of the scale (alongside the nice chap at the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva). As that property is averaging over $700 per night, you have one heck of a value at this Boise hotel. I'll be back at this hotel, and dining at Bella Aquila in Eagle!
As I chose this property for the group based solely upon TripAdvisor reviews, I'd like to address one issue that cropped up in other reviews, and almost caused me to make what would have been a very large mistake. Although the hotel is 5-10 minutes north of I-84, the short trip is well worth it. You are only a few moments from great restaurants in the upscale suburb of Eagle, and in the very nice city of Meridien. I found access to downtown Boise rather easy, heading down Chinden (US26) straight into downtown.
I've also stayed adjacent to I-84, and the airport. Unless you must be on a highway (for a quick escape?), the quiet location, wonderful views of the Foothills, and the abundant dining and shopping venues close to this hotel make this a superior choice for families and business visitors seeking comfort, service and convenience.
