“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I was somewhat concerned when I walked into the lobby of this hotel (it was evening) because the energy saving lights made it looked rather gray and uninviting and I was afraid of what the room might look like. However, the receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful and check-in was efficient. We were traveling with a small dog and the grassy areas are well maintained. The room was very clean, the linens were good (and the bed was made up with double sheets so the blanket is not exposed) and the air conditioner kept the room very cool (I've noticed at some hotels that even on the lowest setting the room warms up halfway through the night). The room furnishings and carpeting appear new or updated. We didn't eat breakfast but the breakfast buffet looked good and there were numerous staff on hand to help. There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes driving distance. I really couldn't find anything wrong with this hotel. As a matter of fact, we will be staying there again on our way home. I can recommend this hotel from our experience.

Room Tip: Even though the hotel has only two floors, if you're traveling with a pet, you might want a lowe...

I am glad to hear that our evening guest service agent brightened up the night! Also, I am happy to hear that your doggie liked our landscaping (there's plenty of grass for dogs to walk). Thank you for the time you had taken to fill out a review. You mentioned that you will return and we will be waiting for you (and your doggie too)!

“Great Property, Top Management, Convenient Location For Dining, Shopping”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

I had the pleasure of staying at the Springhill Suites. Boise (North Cloverdale) while in Boise for the US Club Soccer National Championships.

As I've already hit 40 or more nights in domestic hotels so far this year, I must admit that I was not too excited to make the rather long journey from the East Coast to Boise.

This hotel, was, however, a most welcome surprise, making a difficult journey to new surroundings far more pleasant. The check-in clerk was amazingly pleasant and helpful, with a genuine, down home welcome that is, alas, often missing from America's service businesses.

The rooms were wonderful, with new LCD televisions being installed as I checked-in. The morning breakfast was superb. The variety of choices satisfied adults and 17 year old boys alike. The breakfast staff constantly hovered over the room, refilling coffee pots and buffet offerings, and inquiring as to whether everyone had what they needed.

With a block of 15 rooms, minor glitches and needs always arise. Having stayed in hotel rooms from Geneva (CH, not WI) to Boise, I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of meeting many folks with different attitudes, and skill levels, in hotel management. The GM at this Springhill comes in at the top of the scale (alongside the nice chap at the Hotel President Wilson in Geneva). As that property is averaging over $700 per night, you have one heck of a value at this Boise hotel. I'll be back at this hotel, and dining at Bella Aquila in Eagle!

As I chose this property for the group based solely upon TripAdvisor reviews, I'd like to address one issue that cropped up in other reviews, and almost caused me to make what would have been a very large mistake. Although the hotel is 5-10 minutes north of I-84, the short trip is well worth it. You are only a few moments from great restaurants in the upscale suburb of Eagle, and in the very nice city of Meridien. I found access to downtown Boise rather easy, heading down Chinden (US26) straight into downtown.

I've also stayed adjacent to I-84, and the airport. Unless you must be on a highway (for a quick escape?), the quiet location, wonderful views of the Foothills, and the abundant dining and shopping venues close to this hotel make this a superior choice for families and business visitors seeking comfort, service and convenience.

“Great hotel - small service problem with a plugged toilet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We really enjoyed our stay at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott--Boise. We visited for two nights in July 2011 so that we could attend a family reunion. Our family of 6 fit quite comfortably in the suite, with two kids on the sofa sleeper, two kids on one queen bed, and the parents in the other queen bed.

My two pet peeves were handled well by this hotel: the free breakfast was well stocked with hot, fresh food, and the wireless internet was free. Double thumbs up for getting these two amenities right!

The only problem we had with the hotel - and I'm leaving this comment here for the benefit of the management - was related to the toilet. At about 9:00 PM we discovered that the toilet was flushed. My teenage son called the front desk to report this unfortunate situation, and was told, "Sorry there is no one from maintenance here. We will fix it in the morning."

This is the absolute WRONG response! The correct answer is, "I'll be right up."

So we were stuck sleeping in a room with a somewhat smelly unflushable toilet all night.

Indeed it did get taken care of the next morning, but this put a small dampener on what was otherwise a fantastic hotel experience.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I definitely agree with you; the response that you were given by the front desk was absolutely wrong. Thank you for informing me and I will research and correct. I have to admit, I was surprised to hear that this occurred, because we make such an effort to prepare and train the afterhours staff to resolve these types of problems as they occur. I want to apologize and encourage you to contact me if you would like to discuss this further. We enjoy serving our guests and we truly enjoy exceeding all their expectations. When we fail to do that, we evaluate and correct. I hope that you decide to return to us next time that you visit Boise. If you do, please make sure you ask for me and I will assure you a very pleasant stay. Again, thank you for taking the time to review us.
