We often lodge with Super8. We almost always have a positive experience. Not here. The problems we encountered could have been put right with a simple "sorry" and the offer of a small discount for our trouble.
We did not make reservations in Blackfoot, Idaho because we were not sure we would overnight there. Our attempt to check-in was thwarted by a credit card usage system which was not working. The only alternative accepted - after many suggestions - was for us to pay cash. Fortunately, our vacation was nearly over - paying cash stripped us of most of our remaining currency. They tell us we will get our cash back in the morning IF the system is working. If not, we will have to use a "foreign" ATM to renew our cash supply - that will mean a bank fee.
When we finally got a room, the TV remote did not work. It was an old model which was lacking a battery and had a broken part which rattled.
The front desk supplied us with a new remote which was fine.
The router for the WIFI in our part of the hotel was out of commission. It had been unplugged by someone. Once it was plugged in, it worked.
Shouldn't management have housekeepers check TV remotes and router plugins every day?
We encountered the management in the midst of all these negative experiences. He was, shall we say, unsympathetic.
I will say that the room itself is fine. The young man who was handling check-in did his best to help us, but obviously he was not free to make independent decisions.
