This resort is a residential community which consist of homes and the Wyndham Resort. The community is build around a large, picturesque lake. It is far from busy Downtown Atlanta. For most travelers this area may be a bit out of the way, but if you are looking for a peaceful setting away from the "noise", this is it. The resort is large and has paved roads, some of which are a bit steep, but do-able in a small car. There are no mountain roads here. There was a swimming pools near the rental unit and the lake has a small beach area. Also, there are Canadian geese everywhere, so watch your step.
The lake unit where we stayed was a beautiful 2-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath unit which was privately owned. There was a problem with the A/C the first night, however, received immediate attention from the staff when we called about it, and while she was not able to correct it (she came to our unit personally), she did contact the owners who came out the next morning. All was corrected the next day, but you may want to ask for only Wyndham owned units as the issue would have been resolved that same night.
When you leave the resort, the surrounding area consists of country roads and large homesites. All roads are paved, but it is a rural area. There is a grocery store and a few restaurants approximately 5 to 8 miles from the resort. A GPS will help you find all the local sites. A must see here is Stone Mountain and the Coca-Cola Museum (Downtown Atlanta). Each are about 30 minutes from the resort. Enjoy!
