“what a great place, bad reviews not deserved”

I too was losing sleep after reading all the bad reviews on here. Didn't want to tell my wife about it for days. Then we got here, and couldn't be happier! Matter of fact, we are still here with two more days to go on our week long stay. first I want to address the space issue. We are at site 88 and have fit the following items on our site. one 39' motor home, an extended cab f150, 3 person jets ski and trailer, 4 person electric car, an old crown Victoria, dog pen and picnic table. How much space do some of you need? And don't people know what 'primative' means when they use that kind of campsite? We would definitely come here again. Renting the electric car was another great idea as you can drive them everywhere on the island and you don't have to pay for parking with one either! be sure to kayak or ski out to the Cockspur Lighthouse. There is a guestbook inside you can sign when inside.

“"And the Roaches were just the start....."”

My family just returned from a camping trip at River's End campground at Tybee.... we had made a 5 night reservation. We pull up to the campground at are at first quite shocked to see how small and crowded it was.... We had seen a "map" online and I'll tell you being there in person is nothing like the map.
We check in- we were taken to our cabin- we have always tent camped but decided that a cabin with AC might be good for this trip. we were speechless when we saw the " cabin circle" the map shows a lane of cabins appearing to be spread out and inbetween trees- NOT!! We had picked cabin 107- on the map it shows it at the end of the road.... HA! The cabins were very close together and there was no lane as the map shows- it was a circle of cabins car width apart. there was also a new cabin across from the one we had rented so it was quite tricky parking at our cabin.
I will say that the cabin was very nice- the screened in porch was lovely and the AC was already on so it was nice and cool. There was plenty of room and it was exactly what we were thinking.
We unpacked and went down to the beach and into Savannh for the evening- we returned back to the cabin around 11pm~ my 5 year old daughter went into the pantry for a treat and was greeted by 6 ROACHES crawling around the walls !
we called the camp attendee and were told well your in GA that's a normal thing- HUH?!?!?!
he ended up bringing us some bug spray- my husband then went on roach killing duty!
we went to the camp store and told the ladies that we would like the camp manager to call us or stop by.... we were there for 5 nights and 6 days- he never came!
after my husband sprayed we didn't see anymore roaches inside the cabin the rest of our trip.
Once it was time to check out we dropped off the key and I had asked if we could return the bundle of firewood that we had bought at check in and never used... they said they don't accept returns! You mean to tell me we just spent over $700 and you won't return a $6.00 bundle of firewood- nice!
Overall it was way overpriced and not a campground we will be trurning to again.

Tybee itself is quite the bar centered town- we loved the beach during the day but had no use for the island at night!

I was a little hesitant to book here reading the reviews but we had a great time. Sites are close together but everyone was SO friendly! Our camper was only 25 ft so we were fine. Pool was awesome and open till 10. Campground was surprisingly quiet and shady. We even got a spot on the pool end so we used those bathhouses and they were great. The only thing I found odd was it was 48 a night for two people... So we had to pay extra for our child...

“Where is the management?”

Just got home and wanted to share our experience tent camping. Way too many people are wedged into this campground. The primative area has one good site (you will find a photo from earlier this summer). Not every site gets a picnic table, no fire pits much less grills. Lots of people were drinking alcohol -- we had two grandsons and all but the youngest couldn't sleep because of the noise that continued until after 3 a.m. The next day someone came to talk to our obnoxious neighbors when we complained. You can't be this close together and behave like that. Without the pool I would rate "poor" instead of average. Warning: pool is in poor repair. Also pool rule #1 is no food or drink in pool area yet we saw about 10 adults drinking (beers mostly) in the pool. The beach within walking distance is fabulous so we enjoyed our visit but won't return.

“Smoky and smoggy. Super poor air quality.”

This is our favorite place in the world to go on family vacation. We love the small island and we bike everywhere. We are true life beach bums when we visit. But, unfortunately, the swamp fire in Florida (the Okefenokee Swamp) made the area smelly and and it was hard to breathe the air. The smoke is nearly unbearable. Had we known about this ahead of time (this should have been posted on the website) we would have cancelled and came another time. The campground refused any sort of compromise about staying a partial week and seeing if the smoke cleared. I am very disappointed that the office staff was so unhelpful and rude about the situation. Bad business.
