I am here right now (Jan 7 2012) at the Desoto and did a good review of the reviews before I got here. At one time, I hear that this was a grand-dame hotel but now its really a motel. That being said, its pretty OK. Hotels=glasses and ceramic coffee mugs. Motels= plastic, styrofoam and polyester and thats what the Desoto is but if you are OK with that, you will like the place. Its very, very clean and large and I have a walk in shower which I like. The continental breakfast is terrible but the coffee is good and there are several excellent breakfast restaurants nearby. So if you are OK with it not being a starred hotel, come on down! Otherwise, look on line for a true hotel in the downtown Historic Savannah with "stars".
