I rented 56 Captain's View on Tybee Island from Luxury Living Tybee. Although the
property is in a lovely, quiet setting, as the website says, I was disappointed in the accommodations and cannot recommend this to other travelers.
First of all, the bed is really uncomfortable. The mattress is cheap and creaky, so whenever you move during the night, it's noisy. I tried the upstairs twin beds in hopes that they would be better, but the were the same. Also, the sheets are cheap and do not feel good against the skin.
The website shows a picture of a fireplace, and when I arrived I was excited to see that it opens up to the bathroom, as well. However, upon closer inspection I saw the sign that says FIREPLACE DOES NOT WORK.
The property is getting shabby. The railing leading to the deck is very loose and wobbly. The furniture on the deck is worn, with torn fabric hanging down in places. The interior needs a paint job. It looks as though some paint was put on quickly but it doesn't cover well and problem areas show through. Part of the vanity under the bathroom sink is bubbling and the paint is cracking there. The caulking around the broken fireplace is cracked and missing in places. One of the dining chairs has a bent leg that is very loose.
The TV in the bedroom was grainy. The one mounted on the wall over the dining table had better reception but was very small.
The kitchen is fairly well equipped, but the frying pans are flimsy, with non stick coatings that are scratched and damaged. I found one metal frying pan but no spatula.
Prior to renting this property, I stayed in Savannah at the Luxury Living Jones Street property. Although the kitchen in the Wright Square Suite was not well equipped, the bed there was comfortable and the location excellent. The Savannah property was far superior to the Tybee Island one, which I would not recommend.
