“Spring Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Susie and Stewart were great hosts for my GF and I. We stayed in April and I had a great time. They are so warm and fun that I felt like I was visitng family. For someone like me that values family as the most important thing in my life, it was just a great time. The walk to the beach is easy, down town commute is quick, and I just enjoyed the change of pace from the Chicago.

“We moved to Tybee because of The Lighthouse Inn”

My partner and I stayed with Susie and Stewart off and on for approx 3 years. We not only fell in love with Tybee because of them, but we fell in love with them too! They are like family to us. We found a house here on Tybee and moved down... Now we go sit on the porch at The Lighthouse Inn anytime we can. This inn is the epitomy of what it means to be on Tybee. If you want a comfortable, relaxing stay on the beautiful and quiet North End... This is the ONLY place to stay. If there happens to be any negative reviews on here... Take it from the folks who moved down to be closer to the Inn that we love so much. They are incorrect.

“Grumpy old man”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights and while the Inn is very pretty as is Tybee Island, we both wished we had stayed elsewhere. Susie was nice but, Stuart seemed to be a grumpy old man. We felt as if we were visiting elderly relatives who thought our stay was an inconvenience. The homemade breakfast was also disappointing. It consisted a small serving of bacon, eggs and frozen biscuits. We've stayed at quite a few B&B's and this was our least favorite!

To this guest from Tennessee, we say, “We recognize that 100% of the time there will not be a perfect match between lodging travelers and B&B accommodations.” Accurately, this traveler praised “location = 5 stars”. We regret that Stuart’s respectful, reserved manner came across as grumpy to this traveler. Everyone who eats southern biscuits raves about Stuart’s fresh, hot baked biscuits. We recall that this poster booked a reservation for two nights but left after breakfast the first morning because it was raining. We did not charge for the second reserved day, though the reservation policy stated the full amount was due. We enjoy seeking to please 100% of the time, in spite of knowing that in reality that is not possible. This writer’s post will not change our commitment.

“Always enjoyable, always a true pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My wife and I are repeat customers at the Lighthouse Inn. Our most recent stay occured during the weekend culminating in New Year's Day. We love the Inn because it feels like home when we are away from home. The atmosphere is carefully crafted to assure a private, relaxing experience. This is a point obviously lost on the one reviewer who gave the Inn a poor rating. (Please note that the individual could not describe an actual stay experience). Susie and Stewart understand the value of a stay that is peaceful and disruption free. We like the certainty that our stay will not be disturbed by the entrance of random strangers wishing to tour what is functionally our home during our time in Tybee. Moreover, the Inn is actually the owners' personal residence. If the reviewer who submitted the poor rating cannot understand the importance of protecting vistor privacy, then maybe he or she should appreciate the desire to determine access to one's own home. Our jobs are very stressful. The Lighthouse Inn is a place we consider sanctuary. We love the attentiveness and care with which service is rendered. The breakfast meals are excellent and Stewart's biscuits could bankrupt Pillsbury. We love that the beach is within walking distance and really enjoyed the fireworks show provided at the pier on New Years Eve. We will continue to return there so long as Susie and Stewart will have us.

“If only all B&Bs were like this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We deliberately avoided staying in one of the larger resorts on the coast as I wanted to experience a stay at one of the lovely inns in the area....and we weren’t disappointed! This lovely little inn typifies southern hospitality....from its spotless rooms to tasty home cooked breakfast all expertly overseen by the charming owner. It’s location just steps from Tybee’s historic lighthouse and the beach another plus point. I’d happily recommend for a relaxing getaway and look forward to another visit when I return to the area in the spring!

Room Tip: We opted for the blue room...but all were rather lovely!
