“Great history!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2007

We laughed when we saw another guests' comments about the floorboards being creaky; we actually LIKE that kind of thing! Coming from California, where everything seems so "new" all the time, we loved the history, character and all the charm that this B&B brought to our visit to the south for the first time. The Village Inn has all of the above and then some. We had some of the best & most entertaining breakfast conversations with other guests during our stay here. We were in the romantic "Angel room" and just minutes from several tasty eateries (researched on "$40/day with Racheal Ray" before we left home!). This is a good deal for a great experience!

“Old South Hospitality and Charm”

This is a lovely place to stay if you appreciate great home cooking and beautiful rooms with comfortable furnishings. It is in an historic home built before the Civil War complete with an alleged ghost in residence (I didn't see him tho!). The owner was friendly and provided helpful information about the village and places to go. I stayed in the Scarlett room which had a gas fireplace and jacuzzi tub. It was the most restful vacation I've had in a long time! Highly recommend it.

  • Liked — The charming room decor with four poster bed, fireplace and antique furniture
  • Disliked — No big problems but remote to TV did not work.
  • Tips/Secrets — Wonderful for quiet, low-key vacation.

“Romantic retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2005

This is a nice place to stay if you are looking for romance. I recommend staying in a room with a fireplace and bathtub for two. The blue room is very nice. The lady who runs the place offered us the largest room on the third floor for the same price, but we chose to stay on the second floor. The rooms have small tvs and VCRs. There was a large selection of videos and games to pass your time. Also included are breakfast, homemade cookies, drinks, snacks and a variety of candies. You can look out from the veranda and see stone mountain. I also asked for a bottle of champagne to be in the room on arrival and it was all taken care of.(Cost about 20 bucks). The site actually has a nice website where you can see all of the different rooms and prices.

Only complaint I had was that the stairs were very squeaky....although I guess I would be squeaky too if I was over 100 years old.

“Wonderful, historic property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2004

The Village Inn is a wonderful spot - clean and comfortable rooms with great little touches - and so much history. The house served as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War and is the oldest structure in Stone Mountain Village. It's great to lay in bed in the morning and think about all the lives the house as touched. Our favorite is The Blue Room on the second floor. It has a whirlpool and fireplace and opens onto the second floor veranda where you get a great view of Stone Mountain and the village. Snacks and beverages are provided and breakfast is yummy!

For dinner, we recommend The Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery and be sure to stop in the Stone Mountain General Store on Main Street. They have wonderful kitchen gadgets!

Oh, and The Village Inn is just 15 miles from Atlanta and is easy to get to from Hwy 78. If you're traveling through the Atlanta area, it's THE place to stay!
