I have been staying in the Suburban Extended Stay Suites for over a month. I kept noticing that I was getting insect bites. Last night I was experiencing itching on my ankles, and there were about two dozen bites. This morning I found two fleas on my person. I haven't been anywhere else to get any fleas--not in the woods, not around pets, not even in the grass! I called the Suburban Suites corporate headquarters and got the old song and dance about the hotels being independently owned, blah blah blah.
I am a retired US Army officer and I have never, up until this time, been exposed to a flea infestation in a hotel or motel. As anyone can imagine, being devoured by fleas doesn't make for a pleasant experience. So far, the Suburban Suites has only offered to move me to another room. I felt that I should have had some money knocked off the cost of my stay.
Bottom line: having fleas--especially a lot of fleas--in a hotel is disgraceful. Not offering to compensate someone who's been flea-bitten in your establishment is even more disgraceful.
