We stayed here for one night while visiting Statesboro for a meeting, and what an oasis in the middle of South Georgia! We chose this Hotel because it had what seemed to be a decent restaurant. After driving 2.5 hours from Atlanta, the last thing we want to do is drive to dinner. Check in was easy, and the lobby is open and inviting, with a fire going in the fireplace. You could hear a little buzz from the restaurant, as it is somewhat incorporated into the open feeling of the lobby. I could see bar stools inviting my wife and I to the bar. We got into our room, and it was nicely appointed, clean, and perfect for us. If you stay here I recommend you ask for a room on the back side. We were on the front side and there was some road noise.
We headed down to Emma's, and sat at the bar where a smiling Ruthie served us. Ruthie was friendly, quick with a refill, and made excellent suggestions from the menu. We had the shrimp and grits, tuna tartar & avacado, and the wedge salad. Everything was awesome! This place has an executive chef, named Jason Scarborough, and the food obviously showed this. Emma's was fairly casual, but excellent dining.
The only problem I had with this hotel was the temp of the hot water. There was none. I would say the water temp in the shower was a little above lukewarm, and barely warm enough for us to take a shower. I had to turn the knob all the way to hot, and it was not enough. Normally the problem is pressure, but there was plenty of that.
Great stay, and after driving by some of the other hotels in Statesboro, this is certainly the best place to stay by far.
