“So Glad We Stayed - Warm and Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We were attending an event with our pet in Calhoun (about 30 minutes away), and thus debated whether or not to stay in Rome. We decided to book our stay at the cottage, and were fortunate enough to stay during the holidays. Chris did not hesitate to arrange an early breakfast for us during our stay. Breakfast was always delicious; fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes, grits. The main house is beautifully decorated, and my daughter and I spend a great deal of timing just admiring the art, Christmas tree, rugs, furniture, etc. The cottage was spacious enough for a family of four. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped. While we did not do any cooking, the full-size fridge and allowed us to stock plenty snacks, drinks, and ice. It's a quick drive to downtown and other area attractions. The beauty of the home and attentiveness of hosts allowed for a very enjoyable stay. I hope to return sometime.

Room Tip: Cottage is highly recommended if you are traveling with children and/or pets. Worth the extra cost...

“A step back in time”

From the moment we stepped inside this most elegant mansion we felt transported to another era, one of pure elegance , grace and refinement. On entering the lovely foyer a grand staircase leads to perfectly and beautifully appointed "chambers". Ours was a magnificent room with fireplace and a grand king sized canopy bed, so comfortable and exquisitely dressed with a marvelous bed cover and linens as fine as I have ever seen. Everywhere throughout the room were charming touches ... books at the bedside, lace gloves on the mantle a gorgeous oriental rug on the polished hardwood floor. A door led to the comfortable bathroom, complete with clawfoot tub and windows covered with emerald green drapes...perhaps the kind used by Scarlett to make her dress in Gone With The Wind. Arriving during the Christmas season brought a most unexpected and perfectly delightful surprise... a stunningly beautiful Christmas tree decorated in period onnaments with sparkling lights in our bedroom !
Lest I fail to to mention the other decorations throughout the house, including a parlor adorned with its own enormous Christmas tree and grand dining room complete with a lovely crystal chandelier . With the feeling of being a welcomed and honored guest, Chris the host and owner treated us royally during our stay and in the morning presented a meal that was delicious and beautifully plated on the homes fine china. This experience was surely for us a Christmas dream come true!

We had a terrific stay at the Claremont House and enjoyed our stay in Rome. Nice, big room with claw-footed tub. We especially enjoyed the information about the house and old pictures.

“Loved Architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2010

We were on a road trip so picked this B&B to stop at overnight on our journey as we usually favor B&B's in order to experience the flavor of a town or city. The owner, Chris, bent over backwards to meet our travel and accommodation needs. When I walked into our charming room, I was tickled to see our very own Christmas tree as did not have time to set up one at our home this year. It meant alot to me. The linens on the awesome baroque queen bed in the Yancey Room blew us away as so expensive and lovely. Went to dinner at Harvest Moon which was super busy but fun. It was located downtown about a mile from B&B so we got to see the pretty Christmas lights and lots of smiley faces walking around. It felt so safe for a downtown area. The breakfast at the inn was great as we were allowed to select our foods the nite before from a very good selection on the menu. After breakfast, we continued on our road trip via going up, up, up into the Lookout Mountain area which was awesome for flatfooters from Florida. Thank you Chris for all the good memories.

“This is a great place to get married!- or just to get away from it all.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2009

A lovely , lovely house. we have been here twice for weddings and they were both unique but each was lovely. Good pictures and good food. One was outside with a large wedding party, but they had rented the whole house so it was nice to have everyone close together. The second weddingwas more intimate and was indoors. We stayed in the cottage and it was really nice to be right there. this inn is close to the main street so there is quant shopping and dining nearby, we just walked downtown to eat the first night. I talked to a women who was coming in as we were leaving and she was coming in for a girl's retreat with her sisters, and they were going to be quilting there together! Just a fun note. If you do n't need to swim, this is a great place to stay.
