We are bed and breakfast owners ourselves, but when we travel we choose to stay in economically priced motels, to conserve our hard-earned funds. Normally, we are quite satisfied with our motel rooms. But, when we came to Richmond Hill - with Savannah, Georgia our daytime destination - we couldn't bring ourselves to stay in the first motel we checked; the room was (what we thought...) un-typically unclean. To our dismay, we checked three other equally unclean motels before saying a prayer and driving into the parking lot of the Scottish Inns at 3888 US 17, Richmond Hill, GA, where a sign in front stated that the rooms were award-winning clean. We were NOT the least disappointed. This motel delivered everything we needed. The room, though small, was well-arranged and equipped with everything one might expect in a modestly priced motel. We didn't waste a minute wishing for more space, as everything found a place easily. Another plus was that the motel's location provided quiet. Our door faced a beautiful forested barrier which gave the feeling of serenity and being pampered. We are happy to recommend this particular motel to anyone visiting the Savannah area. It is very conveniently located, only about half an hour from Savannah and not much further to Tybee Island, all scenic and enjoyable daytime driving. Why not save some of the usual high expense of lodging for dining out and other entertainment, after all?! Thanks, Scottish Inns, Richmond Hill.

First off, their rate on their sign was misleading. Ends up it was for solo travelers, rate for two was a bit higher.

We checked in rather late to a fairly empty motel. Found at least six hairs, representing a minimum of four people based on the various colors and lengths on bathroom floor and on the (clean?) bedsheets. We were just too tired to reload the car and switch rooms or motels, so decided to deal with it.

The room also had a broken electric outlet by the sink, no outlet available by the bed, and one multi-jack filled with plugs for the the tv, fridge, etc. A real pain trying to find a spot to plug in a charger for phone or computer. As far as wireless, I was able to log onto a neighboring hotels service since there was no sign or mention of one for this place.

In the morning I dropped something and while picking it up saw dried fecal matter coating the underside of the outer part of the toilet bowl (beneath the curve so not easily seen). When I mentioned this at check out the individual was completely uninterested, no astonishment or apology.

Guess you get what you pay for...learned my lesson!

Traveling to Savannah for St.Patties Day, we (Girlfriend and I) were late getting into town, and had to find lodging for the night, the Scottish Inn was perfect, around 45$ the room was very clean, and had everything we needed for the value. No bells, No whistles just the basic. I'm an Inn Keeper in Southern WV. Hospitality is my business. Thank you Scottish Inn for having a high standard in cleanliness.

This is a typical non-American owned motel.
The marqee sign features a price that turns out to not be the price I'm charged - I'm told that the advertized price is for weekly stays.
It is advertised as winning numerous awards for cleanliness - I believe they were all EARNED during previous ownership.
The write-up says "Quiet Spot" - this motel backs onto railroad tracks with regular train traffic.
The write up features "Senior Friendly Rooms" - upon inquiry I'm told - that their rooms are all on the ground floor - Wow !
Maybe there are select rooms that are better maintained, but my room was just a run down old motel room.

With the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, the "housekeeping" staff parks their cart outside my door and engages in loud conversation, then at 10:30 am (1/2 hr before posted checkout time) they knock on the door to ask if I will be staying ?
Then the "front desk" calls to inquire if I'm staying and to remind me that the rate will go up (as this is Friday).

Do yourself a favour and pass on this DUMP.
