“Classic Southern Hospitality”

As a lifelong southerner, the Chipley Murrah House is the kind of place you wish all non-southerners would stay so they would know the uniqueness of southern hospitality. Paul & Donna have created a Bed & Breakfast experience that leaves nothing but a good taste in your mouth. My wife and I wanted to see the Fantasy in Lights extravaganza at Calloway Gardens during the Christmas holidays. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and immediately met our two hosts. When we left for the light show, they gave us blankets (it was cold) to help keep us warm. We stayed in the Governor's Suite. It featured a king-sized four poster bed, sitting area, flat screen tv, DVD player, Santa Claus checkerboard, antique armoire, large bathroom divided into two rooms with a clawfoot tub with shower. The breakfast as prepared by Donna was different each day, but always featured fresh fruit, eggs and some kind of french toast that was awesome. They directed us to two great places for dinner, Aspen Grill and Carriage & Horses (see our review of this winner). In short, I can't imagine what more they could have done to make our stay one of the best times we have ever experienced. I forgot to mention that our room had its own private entrance, but frankly we didn't use it much because we got to talk with Paul and Donna by going out the main part of the house. This place is an absolutely unmatched bed and breakfast experience.

Room Tip: Governor's Suite makes you feel like a king.

“A little piece of heaven”

My husband and I spent two nights at the Chipley Murrah house and were extremely pleased with the hospitality. Donna and Paul are excellent hosts. They made us feel like friends, not customers. We stayed in the Governor's Suite, which has a huge comfy king-sized four-poster bed. The room (and entire house) is decorated beautifully, especially for Christmastime! It's like stepping back into Victorian days. The room has a good-sized flat screen tv, free wi-fi, and a nice bathroom with a big old claw-foot bathtub to soak in. This suite even has a separate entrance, so you can come and go without entering the main door.
The house is historic, with one of the world's oldest gingko trees, and there's a tale about how the house survived the famous tornado of 1900-something. It survived, but there's still a gash in the bannister where a pair of scissors was flung by the tornado and lodged there. Everywhere you look are beautiful antiques. It's just glorious.
Oh, it is a bed and BREAKFAST. Oh my, the breakfast! Donna's pecan french toast is legendary! We were served delicious fresh fruit each morning, great coffee, eggs, bacon, and that french toast! What pampering!
We will definitely stay here again. This was one of the most pleasant, comfortable trips we've ever taken. Thanks, Donna and Paul!

“Historic Home, Hospitality, Rural Georgia at its Finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Our driving trip from Florida to Chicago required a two day rest somewhere in Georgia. To our absolute delight, we found the Chipley-Murrah House B&B in Pine Mountain. Certainly, the Calloway Gardens, just minutes down route 18 was the central attraction. But the visit
with Donna and Paul Haynes at their B & B was a fabulous experience.
The restored Victorian from the 1880's is adorned with many antiques, collectibles, and comfortable relaxing common areas.
Our room, the Rose Room at the top of either of two elegant wooden staircases,
was large, sunny, and comfortable. The morning breakfasts were delicious. French Bread
Toast with homemade Pecan syrup, eggs, bacon, coffee and fruit cups was grand.
The wrap around porch with swings, the gardens and mature trees, and the easy walk
to Pine Mountain shops and local eateries was very convenient.
The most enjoyable experience was talking with Donna, in her kitchen as she made
homemade fudge, and engaging Paul in conversations centered around golf. They have
been the owners for 16 years and know true Southern hospitality. Having favored B&B's
over hotels, my wife and I would put this at the top of our list . A most relaxing visit
with wonderful people. Book ahead as only four unique rooms are offered.

“It was wonderful and we WILL be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Donna and Paul are the perfect hosts. This was our first experience at a B&B and they have set the bar very high for any future visits at other B&B's. We were celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary and we stayed in the Governor's Room. It was beautiful!! There actually aren't any rooms that I wouldn't want to stay in. I LOVED looking around the house. Donna has decorated everything perfectly. We felt very much at home there. The home reminded me a lot of my grandmothers house. The kitchen was a great gathering spot. We also sat out on the porch with Donna & Paul, and another couple that were there. It was so nice! Breakfast was out of this world! Donna makes the best French Toast with her homemade warm pecan syrup! It doesn't get much better than that.

I would HIGHLY recommend this B&B to anyone! I have not one complaint! We can't wait to go back. :)
