My husband and I spent two nights at the Chipley Murrah house and were extremely pleased with the hospitality. Donna and Paul are excellent hosts. They made us feel like friends, not customers. We stayed in the Governor's Suite, which has a huge comfy king-sized four-poster bed. The room (and entire house) is decorated beautifully, especially for Christmastime! It's like stepping back into Victorian days. The room has a good-sized flat screen tv, free wi-fi, and a nice bathroom with a big old claw-foot bathtub to soak in. This suite even has a separate entrance, so you can come and go without entering the main door.
The house is historic, with one of the world's oldest gingko trees, and there's a tale about how the house survived the famous tornado of 1900-something. It survived, but there's still a gash in the bannister where a pair of scissors was flung by the tornado and lodged there. Everywhere you look are beautiful antiques. It's just glorious.
Oh, it is a bed and BREAKFAST. Oh my, the breakfast! Donna's pecan french toast is legendary! We were served delicious fresh fruit each morning, great coffee, eggs, bacon, and that french toast! What pampering!
We will definitely stay here again. This was one of the most pleasant, comfortable trips we've ever taken. Thanks, Donna and Paul!
