Over the past decade I have stayed at this historic hotel at least 4-5 times. The small rooms remind me of various hotels and pensions that I have frequented in Europe on several occasions.
However, on a recent stop at the New Perry Hotel, I was so disheartened to see that the hotel rooms were no longer quaint and charming, but downright dirty and worn. The bedcover was markedly soiled and the sheets has some stains on them and the bed was very lumpy. There was some peeling paint and cracks in the walls. The room had a somewhat musty smell. The staff, however was delightful and very accomodating.
If the hotel had a bit more sprucing up, without becoming a "boutique hotel", I think it could regain its allure and value.
