After driving up from Florida and attending a funeral that morning, we checked in to the Jameson. We had reserved two non-smoking rooms. One of the rooms had a horrible smell, the other not as bad but same smell. A member of our party has asthma and starting having trouble a few minutes after checking in. Because our room had the same smell and it was before 6:00pm, we made the decision to check-out. I will say the staff gave a refund of the room, which is greatly appreciated. However, when we reported the problem, the manager/hotel staff corrected a member of our party and said there was no smell (although she never bothered to go up to check, but sent someone else to check the rooms to see if we had done anything). When we went to take the room keys back, the hotel staff person proceeded to lecture us for using the sink in one of the rooms and that it was not right to do this. I have to say that we didn't check in with the intension to checkout, lots of people wash their hands upon arriving to a hotel room. I didn't give this hotel the lowest rating because they did provide a full refund (voided the transaction). However, I do not think it is appropriate to lecture customers and basically accuse them of lying about their room condition. Poor room quality, poor customer service.
