We took our 5-year-old granddaughter to see Lookout Mountain and the Chattanooga Aquarium on a 2-day trip from Birmingham. This hotel (motel) had a nice package deal with tickets, good ratings on TripAdvisor, and was an easy drive from both attractions. We preferred not to stay in close to Chattanooga and we like the outside (motel type) entrances this Day's Inn has. the area of this hotel is not congested with traffic, has easy access and many restaurants, drug stores, etc in the area - community businesses.
We have found, in the past few years, Day's Inns have become standard accommodations for groups of working people, mostly in construction and this can be a problem if you want to stay away from lots of noise and excessive activity. MOTEL 6 IS THE VERY WORST FOR THIS! We did see a few work trucks come in, but the hotel was quiet and settled. The people running the hotel (a large extended family) were very pleasant and accommodating and our reservation (made online) was honored to the letter. All our tickets were waiting and they gave us complete information about traveling to the attractions.
Let me mention that I was concerned about the safety of the pool at this hotel. I am a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and pools built in the fashion of this one is are not safe. The shallow end is 3 feet & the deep end is only 5 feet. It is marked, but the danger is that someone may not notice these depths and dive head-first into the pool and might suffer a head injury when the pool is not deep enough for diving.
The room was clean and toiletries were fully stocked. The room had a frig, microwave and hair dryer, NEW mattresses and very comfortable beds - wish they'd had fitted bottom sheets, the flat sheets on the bottom moved all around!
All in all, we found the hotel a good value with nice people.
