I had a terrible experience at the Howard Johnson.
After traveling from Maryland to Griffin to visit family all I wanted to do was find somewhere to rest. This desire was quickly interrupted when I checked into the Howard Johnson. I first noticed residual handprints of an oil-like substance all over the bed spread, very aged lined on the pillows, a cigarette burn in one pillow case, and a bath tub filled with hair. And after all of this, I pull the covers back to get in bed and it was infested with termites!!! YES!!!! I said TERMITES!!! (A far cry from the normal bed bug, huh?) We were told that there were no other rooms available and to return the next morning to talk to the owner in person.
The next morning, I returned to Howard Johnson seeking reconcilliation from the owner and was completely and blatantly disregarded! He shouted, threatened and lied, "No Refund!" I was told...and even before I was able to give one reason for concern, and after not recieving any service. Imagine that?!?!? No hospitality in the field of hospitality! Hmm!
I left Howard Johnson feeling defeated and taken for granted! Although a Griffin native, I had never had a reason to patronize the hotel industry...call it ignorance if you will! I opted for the Comfort Inn and Suites and you should as well before you pay to be mistreated at Howard Johnson.
To my surprise, I stumbled across a REAL PERSON with TRUE FEELINGS and SUPERB ETIQUETTE in the field of HOSPITALITY! What a breath of fresh air...at COMFORT INN AND SUITES! The rooms were immaculent and the REAL hot breakfast a plus! I personally enjoyed the workout area and free 24 hour computer lab (free wi-fi too!).
Thank you Comfort Inn and Suites! There is a reason its called "Southern Hospitality" and I found that in you!
AND YES!!! We did in fact report this issue to the State Department of Environmental Protection Office. It is on record and public if you are interested.
