“Family Friendly”

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton for 3 nights over New Year's Eve and we loved every minute of it! We have stayed at many luxury resorts but rarely do they cater to children like they do at the Ritz on Lake Oconee. The hotel had everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel and, at the same time, was very family friendly. We have two boys ages 4 and 8 and they were entertained the entire stay by the wide variety of activities on the property. They had a video game room, movie theater & popcorn, a little train ride, basketball court, play structure, swings, hammocks and lots of rolling grass area. We all loved the s'mores by the firepit every night from 7-10. Both of the restaurants at the hotel cater to children as well and have kids' menus. They also have canoes, kayaks and fishing gear rentals. I can't say enough good things about the Ritz! We had a beautiful view of the lake and a generous sized balcony. On New Year's Eve at midnight, there were fireworks over the lake, which were amazing. We will definitely be returing to this fabulous hotel.

“Weekend Visit to Ritz Carlton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

My wife and I took a quick weekend trip up to the Lake Oconee/Greeensboro Reynolds Plantation Ritz Carlton Lodge and loved it. The service was very solid, always looking out for the guests. Since it was raining and the outdoor campfire happened to be closed that night, they surprised us with fresh smores from the kitchen, as the Ritz always does well to anticipate your needs. The landscaping and the grounds were immaculate and we used the ice skating rink that was set up for the late Fall/early Winter. It was a treat. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a location that is reasonably within driving distance of the big city (Atlanta) but has the relaxed country feel of a Southern hospitality area.

“Great place...especially for a business meeting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Loved the place. Reminded me of The Stamford in Sydney but in US. It is MILES from anywhere but when you are there that's ok. Loves the place even though bathrooms felt old they were in great condition. Think it might have been the decor. The food was awesome. The staff nothing short of outstanding!

“Lake Oconee puttin' on the ritz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We have stayed at this holte (lodge) for the last 3 years during the second week of January. The service and ambiance is fabulous. There is a huge fireplace in the public area, with a bar and live entertainment most evenings. All of the employees were helpful and friendly. We felt truly welcome and very well cared for. The surroundings include a beautiful lake as well as a golf course. There are lots of well-maintained walking trails throughout the expansive property. The spa offers many services, and again, the staff is superb. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Yes, it is a bit expensive, but this one is well worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake.

“Wonderful Resort with a ton of amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This was a girl’s trip for total rest and relaxation; we had all booked spa appointments for Saturday. We were able to check in very early and get settled in the room before our trip to the spa. Our view wasn't great, but I guess they all can't be. The balcony was spacious with a table and chairs. Our only complaint about the room was the beds, we reserved the room for 3 people and there was also an option for 4 people per room, however the beds were full size, not queen, 2 people in a full size bed is not at all comfortable. We called the front desk and they brought up a rollaway, which was a wire spring squeaky mattress (horrible). The spa was amazing, be prepared to pay 22% gratuity on all services, which I think should be up to the customer, it’s called gratuity after all, someone might want to do more or less, it should be the clients option, not the spa’s. The products were awesome; I even bought them to have them for everyday use. After the spa we ventured to the indoor pool/hot tub area to relax. The pool area and hot tub were great until a group of about 15 kids came screaming in, it abruptly ended our day at the spa and from the look of it, everyone other person trying to relax we all left. We walked around the resort for the afternoon; this would be a great place to visit in the spring/summer to enjoy all of the amenities. We had dinner at Gaby’s by the Lake and the food was very good, we strolled back to the hotel by way of a huge bon fire that had s ’mores bar for us to enjoy. We left Sunday morning after a delicious breakfast at the Georgia Bistro, I would definitely come back, and book the room according to the number of guest.

Room Tip: If you are travelling with more than 2 people, book more than one room.
