“Nice But Not Spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. We were on an unexpected trip and had to stay near family so this hotel was convenient to Lake Lanier. The room was nice, the breakfast is good but was pretty much cold by the time we got downstairs. The staff was friendly for what little interaction we had. I would not recommend this hotel if you're on vacation for any length of time as it is small. There is not a lot of lounging space.

Room Tip: We had a room right next to the elevator which woke us up each morning. If you can, ask for a room a...

“Took extra good care of our large group!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Pastor Mark Stroud in Wahoo hosts a huge youth meeting every year around this time and recommended this hotel to us. They gave us a cut rate, had beautiful rooms and a breakfast that put Shoney's to shame! Great place, great staff, just like home!

“Very Average Hotel, Decent Location w/ Good Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Stayed at this property for 4 nights. The front desk and "morning breakfast" staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is convenient to a few dining options (not great, but something), to include an IHOP, which is right next door, McDonalds and Quiznos. As is the case with all (I think) Hampton Inn properties, they offer a hot breakfast which is convenient. Also, since it's "downtown" Gainesville there is easy access to drugstores (CVS), convenience stores, etc.
This property does not include an exercise room but they do provide access to a nearby gym free of charge for the during of your stay.
The rooms are very average but are clean and comfortable. One thing that I wasn't thrilled about is that they offered smoking rooms so if you end up getting stuck in a non-smoking one that is right next to a smoking room (which I did) you get some occasional odor. I don't know if it was just the week that I was there or not but I heard sirens a LOT every night. The traffic right outside the property is extremely heavy during peak time periods (before/after work).
Overall it was a decent place to stay for a work trip. I've certainly stayed at better but it wasn't horrible. There are a few other options on the same road as well if you're interested (Holiday Inn for one).

Room Tip: If you are NOT a smoker, ask to be placed away from the smoking rooms, if possible (I don't know...

“a little short on service this trip.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We travel a good bit by car in the US, and our normal choice for hotel is Hampton Inn. We have stayed in this one a few times and have usually not been disappointed. This HI is an older building, but you can see the results of a recent renovation. We were concerned about a noisy fan in the bathroom that we could not shut off, so we asked for maintenance - our problem was resolved and we had a very quiet night. The front desk staff were helpful, the room was comfortable, and the bed was great. The only odd thing for this stay was service staffing; we visited over Thanksgiving, and when we returned to our room that evening, the bed was not made. The towels had been replaced and the bathroom clean, but the rest of the room had not been touched...somewhat disconcerting when you expect some level of attention. We had to assume that the cleaning staff had the day off. Breakfast was the usual, not extraordinary but certainly adequate to start the day.
