Just spent a fabulous New Year's Eve at The DIllard House with our car club. They put on a package deal every year complete with accomodations, food, champagne, party favors and a first rate band. This was our car clubs second year there and we increased our group by 20 people this year after the rave reviews last year! The party was soo much fun and the band was first rate and kept everyone dancing and the food was to die for!
First of all, the service is first rate. Making reservations for our group was great and Anita, made every effort to make our car club stay perfect! Kudos Anita! She checked in our our group all evening NYE and the staff as well to make sure we had everything we needed. The room we stayed in the Blue RIdge Units were very nicely appointed with comfy beds and linens with lots of fluffy pillows and a view off the back porch was spectacular! They have updated the rooms nicely with new bedding, etc., tv, carpet, in room coffee, etc. Although the bathrooms were spotless...they are pretty small and not refurbished, but very clean, adequate and complete with plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries and hair dryers. Counter space is at a minimum in the sink area just outside the shower/bathroom so not much room to spread out ladies while powdering your noses! Rooms in the Meadows and the Blue Ridge Units overlooked a lush green lawn and a pasture full of horses with a grand view of the mountains iin the distance. So tranquil and zen! Rocking chairs are just off the sliding glass doors so you can sit and take in the scenic beauty surrounding the property and watch trail riders meander on horseback down the trail for a guided trip across the property. They provided horse pulled sleigh rides during the holiday season and boast a neat petting zoo for the children to get up close and personal with the animals complete with a massive big red barn to house them. Very family friendly..any season!
The main draw to the property boasts a fantastic family style restaurant famous for its "eat til it ouches you" family style country cooking food brought in abundance to your table..as much as you can stuff in! Worth a stop for lunch anytime you are in the area..but be prepared to need a rest and a long nap after the eating extravaganza and this is the place to stay while visiting the north Georgia mountains! The same can be said for the grand buffet for the NYE celibrations in their huge conference center just a few steps from the restaurant. It rivals ANY cruise ship I have ever been on...complete with oysters on the half shell to carved tenderloin of beef and two ..count em' ..two chocolate fountains..one white chocolate and a mountain of desserts.like baked alaska and red velvet cake! Another added bonus are the hotel rooms that are just a few minute's walk to and from the the party for NYE so no driving required! They property at holiday time is very festive and is decked out in holiday trimmings complete with tons of Christmas lights and decorations and two of the biggest, fattest live christmas trees I have ever seen inside the dining rooms which overlook a peaceful valley and fields where much of the produce is grown for their restaurant.
I could go on and on about the place but you just need to go and experience it for yourself. It is definately high on my list of fav places to go!
Room Tip: While they have low to high priced rooms..the best value I feel is in the Meadows or Blue RIdge Unit...
