“The only thing good is the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Overall, the hotel was acceptable, especially with the price I paid. The building and facilities itself are a little bit rundown and you can definitely tell the wear and tear on the building. BEWARE: If you are planning on parking a car, the parking spots are TINY so most cars end up using two spaces or park in place they arent supposed to park.

The bed, pillows, and comforter are comfy and I got a room with a king size bed for about $80/night. The cable/satellite television is suspect, only a few channels work and the remote itself is confusing (it has this little lever on the side that you have to switch up and down before it lets you do anything...really weird).

The customer service is where my problem is. They charged me twice for the hotel room and I have been contacting them for the past week about it and they originally said it would take 2 business days. It has been five and they keep sending me to their "accountant" who is "taking care of the problem" but I'm still waiting...just and FYI.

Hope this helps. I'm not giving the hotel a bad review but I'm not giving it a raving review, either.

“Very clean, nice rooms!”

This hotel was perfect for what we needed. The rooms were very nice, AC worked great, and they were very clean. This hotel is located very close to some great eating spots and pubs. I recommend Sweet Melissa for breakfast and the Brick Store for dinner and yummy beer! Note: it's not actually a Holiday inn anymore. It's going to be a Marriott in February so if you go there before then it is just called the Decatur Conference Center.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms look out onto the foyer. For more privacy ask for a room that looks out onto the...

This facility is in the process of being converted into a Marriott Courtyard. It will close in early October for 4 months and undergo a complete remodeling.

“Closed for remodeling Oct. 2011 thru Feb. 2012. Great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We picked this hotel because of its location and were not disappointed. My husband and oldest daughter were attending Dragon-Con over Labor Day weekend in downtown Atlanta, while I and my youngest daughter planned to hang out and shop. After reading some of the negative reviews about this place, I was nervous, but the hotel was fine - clean and reasonably comfortable. Upon check-in we learned that the hotel would be closing in just a few weeks to undergo remodeling and transition to a Marriot Courtyard, so I suppose the few shortcomings we noticed didn't seem that important.
I really loved the location and would stay here again for that reason alone. The area is very safe and has a cool, college-town feel. From the the hotel, it was just a block to some great little restaurants, pubs, and shops, and I spent a very pleasant Saturday walking around. The hotel is located just off Ponce De Leon, and from there it was a quick 15 minute drive west to Peachtree (downtown Atlanta). I was able to drop off my husband and daughter at the Con, then head north another 15 minutes to Atlantic Station (IKEA, H&M) and a little further north to Phipps Plaza (Nordstroms).
There is also a MARTA station less than 2 blocks from the hotel, but we had a car, so we didn't use the train.
About 15 minutes east of the the hotel, (still on Ponce De Leon) is the Dekalb Co. Farmers Market, a big year-round international market. I ran out of time and didn't get to go there, but we'll definitely take that in next time.
